SWEET RIDE there Rob. Canyon appears to have come up with a fantastic performer here. Many have wondered though, is there a performance advantage to engineering such a huge gap between motor to frame? Cooling perhaps? Just feels like using the Bosch motor was a last minute change or something hence the irregular gap. Could you explain to us riders why there seems to be a large gap between the motor and frame which, typically along with wires/cables etc would be hidden by the motor cover to make it more aesthetically pleasing to look at. Cheers Rob.

Awesome vid Rob!!! As others have said get the 54th ratchets,heres the breakdown 18th=20deg free play,36th=10deg,54th=6.6deg...The 54th ratchets are pricey in north america close to $200,cheapest place that I could find them was bike24 around $80(stay away from chinese knock offs)hope this helps!!Cheers!!!

@@RobRidesEMTB Worth every penny Rob you'll never go back!!!According to dt swiss anything finer then the 54s is where you can have pedal kickback,I am running 4 350hubs with the 54s,2 on orbea wild and 2 on a bulls e-fat bike(studed tires on there own wheel sets)and no pedal kickback at all...forgot to ask but you probably have the 240 exp version and bike24 is out of stock they list at 84.87euros...you need a special ring gear tool to do it yourself,cheaper to have your lbs do it for you...

I like some of the additions. I've been looking at the EDC gear as I use backcountry research straps becuase I prefer riding packless. I will agree on the Oneup V2 dropper too. Mines been on for years, it's been abused and at worst it's had a quick strip down, clean, regrease and refit. Takes an hour tops. After watching this, you've convinced me on a Strive:On rather than a Spectral:On or Kenevo Expert. Keep up the good work!

Agreed. I got the Spectal ON CF8 and it is a blast! I can ride some pretty gnarly tech trails on the thing and it just sucks it all up. Canyon makes great bikes, I have the Endurace rd bike also. Sometimes I think it would be worth it to have a youtube channel, just for the freebies or super deals on bikes and parts. 9K bikes suddenly become a "great bargain". Carbon rims are real pricey but ever so worth it "until they crack". Top level suspension is suddenly just adequate. But really for the bike makers, its cheap advertising. People love youtube reviews.

@Sandzsteedt Жыл бұрын
You should try fixing the rear hub to loose the engagement lag. Cheap way to do it is just to cable tie the cassette to the spokes. This will make the drivetrain spin constantly letting you shift while coasting. Since the cranks already have a freehub mechanism the one in the rear hub is not necessary for the function of the bike. Of course the proper way would be to machine a piece of metal without the ratchets and place that into the rear hub.
@Mastr-Tech Жыл бұрын
That’s a lot of drag while coasting.

Another great video Rob, keep up the good work! One question, you might not have experience of, but its been holding me back from buying this bike. The majority of reviews online about Canyons customer service, is the experience is horrendous! When importing a bike and not going through a local bike shop, this is a very worrying concern and like I say, it doesn't matter how good the bike is, the reviews of the after market experience has totally put me off. Looks like a perfect bike. What’s the best e-bike ? The last one I drooled over... Sorry, but I’d like a throttle and 160nm torque.... Someday when e-bike laws are amended to: Just obey all traffic laws; we might get e-bikes that really perform at your desecration. Haul ass up a fire road at 30mph or do the speed limit on the road. Most cars can do 100mph or more. Most people have never driven driven that fast, let alone I. Town... I’ll stay with my diy e-bike that will go 20/25mph uphill without pedaling, or maybe 10mph straight up, and then I’ll help the motor...or turn the the power down and pedal for some exercise. And sure there’s a mechanical issue. Wear on the drive train. Why I’m going back to a good KMC single speed chain. Oh, I’m running a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub. All that power requires few gears. These 1000 watt Bafang’s can be run as single speeds. These new bikes look lovely, but for me, totally disappointing...
@stevenreyes3680 Жыл бұрын
@@Another-Address Cost is a big deal. I got lucky with the Covid supplementary checks. 2 checks for $1,200. Retired on Social Security, I never would have been able to build, add the Bafang BBSHD. I gearded the bike where the top speed basically meets the top speed requirement of a 28mph Max. At 70 years old, doing 30mph, the speed limit for cars on city streets now, is just about right. But the bike is built for getting up a trail easy. I really don’t have to pedal at all. So bike was destroyed Oct. 15 in a head on with a pickup truck. It’s taken until now to replace frame, fork and front wheel. $1,100 worth of damage, with $600 worth of stuff. Used fork and front wheel in good nic for $300 and NOS GT Zaskar frame off eBay. And I sold a lot of stuff, like RC cars, my single speed, etc. All stuff I got while working. The cost of living is high and nice bikes seem to be a real luxury... And the laws in Oregon ? Looks like the the police could give a shit. I ran into a guy that’s been riding a Sur Ron all over the place, street and trail and has never been stopped. Sorry that seems impossible in the UK. But things change. I go by the maxim, obey all traffic laws, nobody seems to blink here. You should what they get away with in Los Angeles. Looks like anarchy. Chin up and keep riding and smiling...

Rob, I built my version of your Cheeb: Rockshox Zeb fork, nice SRAM rear shock, CF wheels (wheels and frame from Light Carbon), Bafang M510 motor, mullet 29”, 27.5” wheels. I have been riding it the last 3 weeks in the Colorado Rockies and have been super impressed with the handling (geo & suspension). The motor has its pluses and minuses - I am hoping I can fiddle with the config to remove the power delivery dead spots I experience … we shall see. My question is how does your Cheeb compare to the Strive ON. Now that I have a positive taste for emtb’s I am wondering what a higher end “store bought” bike would have over a “custom , quasi home-brew” bike.
