You have to upgrade the Batocera V33 to (at least) V39 !! The video card will support newer drivers that work really better that these. On V39 and V40, in the information menu, it will sjow also the Vulkan driver, if it works!

This Gigabyte Brix has a very nice case! OK performance for a 15 watt system - however dual core (2C/4T) + older intel HD gfx doesn't really cut it anymore 😅

I've been looking for a mini PC powerful enough (and affordable enough) to emulate up to PS3. What's the best option?
@glennshoemake420021 сағат бұрын
Steam Deck actually handles PS3 quite well.

@glennshoemake4200 I want a mini PC so I can play it on my TV. Not really bothered about a handheld.
@glennshoemake420020 сағат бұрын
@ynghuch Then look for a AMD 5800u or better. Emulation is mostly CPU and the Steam Deck uses 4 core Zen 2 but with fast memory. 5800u is 8 cores and Zen 3 CPU.

Try emulating on an Xbox series s. I think people put some emulator on one and said it can emulate everything.

For emulation is best snapdragon 8 and up to elite that is more powerull than this pc.

Ultimately, no current mini pc can run all games of the six and especially 7th gen consoles @ 4K upscale. The latest AMD chips get close, they can run the hard to run PS2X games like God of War II at 1440p/60 and 4K for most of the games , but their cost is prohibitive since they are near $1k USD (Perhaps in few years we will get integrated graphic chips that have enough units to scale the graphics to 4K under $500USD). The best budget option is a mini atx build with a discrete gpu (the gpu can be a budget option or older 1650 for example). You need a decent CPU and 16GB of RAM. You can probably put together a used parts build for $300-400 since you don’t need a real powerful GPU and most modern CPUs of the last 5 years can handle emulation tasks of retro consoles. Buying new of course is hard to keep it under $500 as AMD and nVidia don’t make new gpus that retail for less than $200 USD. You kind have to find old stock gpus that they are not making anymore because their base level gpus are overpriced. An entry level RTX 4060 or RX 7600 are all around $200+ USD which quite frankly is dumb as they force the price up on budget builds making them make no financial sense as you might as well spend a few more dollars and dramatically improve performance. It is why I hope Intel is successful and others enter the gpu market so they can stop these monopoly like practices and we can match price and performance to actual budget use cases like this, where the price/performance gap makes sense. Like everything more competition helps smaller players fill market gaps not being accounted for by large corporations who do not focus on smaller market needs as it is not in their best interest. Retro 4K emulation of Sixth and Seventh Gen consoles is one such gap.
