[EN] 2.0 FSi/TFSi High pressure fuel pump cam follower replacement

In this video, we look at the high pressure fuel pump which is fitted to several common Volkswagen AG vehicles fitted with the 2.0 FSi and TFSi engines and the cam follower which is a common wear item of this system and its replacement using febi part 37162.
An increase in engine noise, loss of engine performance, uneven running and stalling can all be symptoms of a worn fuel pump cam follower. This is due to reduced maximum pump piston lift, causing fuel rail pressure fluctuations and fuel pressure loss and poor regulation.

Hi Febi. I completed this process as I had a leak coming from the HPFP so thought of replacing the cam follower and respective seal. Unfortunately the leak continues but does not smell like fuel. Smells like oil. Any advice?

Thank you for watching our video, if you have replaced the seal for the fuel pump and you think the oil leak is around the high pressure fuel pump area, check the pump and all other engine parts where oil leaks could occur and repair accordingly. e.g. cam cover gasket.

Very good video friend I was looking for information about a Mazda CX-7 2.3L Turbocharged on the cam tracker but I did not find any information, I have the code P0172 I have checked everything to the engine and nothing that I solve, the only thing I have not changed is the Cam Follower you think it has to do? Apart I have a noise of metal squeaking from the high pressure pump

Thank you for watching our video. The fault code you refer to is a rich mixture fault. There could be many reasons for this. Regarding your squeaking noise, the fuel pump fitted your vehicle engine is similar to the example shown in this video and can be removed in a similar way for inspection.

The fuel pump retaining bolts have a vehicle manufactures recommended setting of 10Nm which is featured in this video.

I just replace alternator, but the engine misfire. When scan It read P1063 fuel pressure regulation - Value below control limit. Does it have something to do with Plunger High Pressure pump ? My car is Audi A3 2.0FSI 8p1

Thank you for watching our video. The common fault codes associated with the fault in this video are P2293, P0087 and P1093. P1063 could be related to a fuel sensor issue, it would be recommended to check the fuel pressure to start with to diagnose the issue.

@@mk5gti yeah I fix it. The Car stall occasionally without warning, very horrible. Found out Engine speed sensor is the culprit and need to replace. Nothing to do with fuel pump. Now its running smoothly. This is the sensor location for my reference. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4WrfaaNlp2pZ9k

I have a mk 4 golf 150 pd, my garage said the injectors seem fine but that the hpfp is coming up in diagnostic test, garage said this part is around £600 but if they replace it may blow my injectors as my car has 147k miles, can i not have him replace my injectors with remanufactured ones? Really appreciate any advice its a tdi 1.9 i absolutely love the car, how possible will it be to blow my old injectors?

Thank you for watching our video. Replacing the fuel pump will not cause an issue with perfectly serviceable injectors. However, if the diagnosis of the failed fuel pump is due to internal contamination e.g. metal or engine oil then the complete fuel system requires to analysed to see what is required to be replaced.

Thank you for watching our video. The high pressure fuel pump camshaft follower featured in this video is a common wear item. The failure rate will vary from vehicle to vehicle. Factors such as regular engine oil servicing will improve wear rate. There was also an update to the follower case hardening to this part which was improved in production in 2007.

Thank you for watching our video. To try and reply on the subject of your misfiring engine, this is not easy with the information supplied. A engine misfire can be electrical, fuel or mechanical related and trying to track down this fault can take a lot of time and effort as this is an intermittent fault. All fault codes and data need to analysed and a emission test needs to be carried out. Also when the misfire occurs you need to determine if the misfire happens at idle, under load or cruising. I wish I could give you an easy instant answer, but there are to many variables to give you a simple answer.

febi.bilstein it happens between two and three rpms and idle roughly and shakes between 2&3 rpms besides that's it drives ok but I'm trying to fix it before it gets worst
