To those guys who keep having error 13 even after the charger, battery and motherboard were changed try checking the charging pads on the robot itself. One wire desoldered on one of the charging pads on my roborock and I had error 13 even after motherboard change. Upon closer inspection i noticed it desoldered and then when i soldered it back the robot was new again... And this solution is nowhere on the internet i have discovered it by myself :P

How much of the robot did you have to disassemble to access the charging pads? I replaced the motherboard but still am having error 13 issues, so I'm thinking of taking it apart again to check the charging pad connections
@nellscott9105
@nellscott9105 Жыл бұрын
I just went for it and took it all apart again. I had to do the entire disassembly and take the motherboard out to be able to see the wires that are soldered to the charging pads. Unfortunately they were in fine shape, so that wasn't my problem. At least it was faster to take apart and put back together the second time!

@@nellscott9105 Then it is probably the charger or the battery at fault... Error 13 can be hard to solve...

I got this "error 13" after using my roborock for 11 months. Everytime i got the error i needed to turn it off, wait for 20-30 minutes, then i could charge it for another additional 2-3%, and the robot voiced the error 13 after 3 minutes, and the cycle repeats until i could charge it to 100%. Now that you pointed the problem with the thermistor fuse, i can understand and confirm that the symptom in sync with the behaviour of the fuse. When the temperature rises, the resistance will also rises and the current to the battery might be reduced, and so the error 13 happens. Even if the charging contacts are clean, there is a broken part in the robot that blocks the current to the battery. Super! Herzlichen Dank fuer dein Tutorial. Schoene Gruesse aus Indonesien

Hi, even if this works, I suggest to remove the old fuse to stay save. As you now have a kind of unknown current that may get through those fuses. But hey: As it is fixed now, you can be sure, that the fuse was the root cause ;).

Thank you so very much!!!! I had been dealing with the error for three months. I'd clean the contacts and it might go a cycle or two before the error would happen again until cleaning contacts did nothing. Not knowing if I could repair it and having never used a soldering iron I purchased a Wyze Lidar robot cleaner while also ordering the chip and a soldering iron a week ago. I followed your fantastic detailed directions and managed to ( barely but securely) solder the replacement on. While your video is blurry it's nothing that cant be overcome especially if I could do it with old eyes and no motherboard soldering repair experience. My soldering work looks horrible but it's effective. I took my time. I had no multi meter to check my work or analyze before beginning. For anyone reading after reassembling MiHome app at first could not see the vacuum and would not load a map. I ended up deleting the app ( and cache and memory) and resetting the S5 as well. After reloading the app and linking into wifi, the S5 found and loaded the old good map. I waited until the battery recharged to 100% and just ran it at Turbo in 5 rooms. After completing It went back to the dock with 78% charge and it's now at 92% and charging. I plan to run it twice a day over the next 7-10 days to be certain the charging issue is gone. Thanks again and your English is fine!

Very helpful! Unlike almost everyone else, I got an "error 14, battery malfunction" and the user manual was useless. Replacing the battery didn't help. Your video enabled me to eliminate the charging station as a possible cause, and to disassemble the robot. I decided to swap out the entire motherboard with a replacement from China. This rectified the problem, and saved me hundreds of dollars. Thank you very much.

Thanks for the guide. I will be attempting this soon. It’s funny, first my roborock got error 1, apparently a fault with the LiDAR. So I ordered a replacement motor (cheap) but also the LiDAR module (dearer). Motors got here first, and that got it going right away, but as soon as it ran out of charge and went back to the dock, now it gets error 13, so here I am watching your guide. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Kevin, just a short reminder, if you bridge the old fuse, you have an unknown level of safety. It is much saver to remove the old one - but I understand bridging is more convenient ;). You can check if it is the fuse by allowing the robot to cool down before putting it back on the charger. These fuses trip due to heat and will trip sooner the hotter they get even without previously tripping. The robot will probably show first signs directly after it cleaned for a bit. The unit will be warm from vacuuming and then stop charging due to an old PTC tripping. Let it cool down for 15 minutes then put it back on. It may now charge or charge longer then before. If charging works then the fuse it not bad enough yet but will probably fail soon. If it stop right away it may be something else.

Excellent description. It gave me the idea to measure the voltage on the docking station and in my case that was the way for the solution. For me the springs under the charger contact on the docking station were weak. I bended both to make them harder to push down, since I did not see this error. How I found this? :D I wanted to measure the voltage of the docking station output, so I pushed the measuring pins under the springs and the problem did not occur for a week. So I concluded that it must have something to do with the springs, I bended them, since it's OK (while the error came up every day before). Btw I could not completely disassembly my Roborock to remove some dirt from the motor, your video helped to do it.

@bastelbank5855
@bastelbank5855 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, at first I would try to revitalize the battery by replacing the fuse. You *might* - as a short term solution and *ONLY* if you stay with the roboter while it is charging - buypass the fuse to try if this fixes the issue. As you did not provide any more details, I am unable to tell you how likely just the fuse is broken. Anyway, you should not discharge the robot any more. You *might* also try to place the powered off robot on the dock - if the fuse is broken, it will power up and it may start charging some percentages. After ~30 minutes you might power off the robot again and measure the batteries voltage. Anyway, I suggest you to replace the fuse first! If the battery is not broken due to its current drained state (maybe you are lucky!) there is no need to replace it :-). Good luck!!

Is this for a permanent error 13 or intermittent? I have an intermittent error 13 and I cannot see a fuse causing any intermittent problem unless it's a resettable fuse which this SMD one isn't. The contacts on base/vacuum are perfect.

I would recommend a wide soldertip for desoldering like this or very small hot airgun.

Instant like when you mentioned MacGyver :D Mine's got the same error, hope it's just the cap in the docking station as I just had the robot disassembled the other day to root it and install Valetudo.

Maybe very risky and destructive, but I wonder about cutting out an access port above where the fuse would be. At least it will be covered by the trim plate when done.
