This video, in its entirety is exceptionally interesting to me. Uplifting too. The decorum portrayed by interviewer and interviewees is a significant 'structure' in and of itself in that this proves to all not only in South Africa, but across the world, that in spite of history (good or bad), personal preferences, ideologies, dreams and aspirations, level headed human beings CAN respect one another's differences and "agree to disagree". Of further significance is the fact that this piece of land is otherwise arid and from an agricultural perspective, provides far greater challenges than what a genuinely fertile area might provide. The significance of course, is that the human being CAN with determination, co-operation and fervent endeavour under God's grace, prosper against seemingly impossible odds. Very much enjoyed: Thank you!

1) 682 comments No one here has a problem with Chinese buying land here, creating Chinese communities, creating motherland China wealth, creating police stations, "friendly" exposure of their exclusive culture, building and creating their own statues and cultural heritage, selling their motherland goods only, creating "taxless" wealth..... 2) I haven't heard in any similar interviews anyone from this community complaining or protesting about service delivery, begging or pleading for a bail- or handout or freebie. 3) This community live / co-exist in harmony and peacefull neighbouring with everyone around.... no word about landtheft or expropriation .... only creating communal success and progress. 4) Similar interviews disclose functional and maintained infrastructure built for and by the community. I presume the community also paid for it and therefore cherish it for the future development of this community..... 5) It seems to me that this community achieves their goals with their own initiatives and foresight lead their day to day existence. 6) This community it seems, live sparsely and survive off this barren stretch of desertlike arid land and excell in their efforts to create opportunities. 7) It seems, the critics here envy and expropriate like the rest of the country. It seems that the community supports one another, rather than relying on their government to provide support systems. It seems as if this community is building a future for themselves from / out of nothing. To me therefore, it is a no brainer..... this ccommunity should be an example to each one of the rainbow nation to create similar self sufficient communities for the benefit of the country as a whole and therefore be left to write the textbook of how to be successful amongs animosity from critics I can't see any wrong, besides that I can't live there to share their expertise to enrich my own understanding of cultural success. I hope their successes will encourage communities to follow in their footsteps

@@pvtcit9711 You don't need to want to marry someone to get along with the person on a platonic and / or social level. The trouble in South Africa: the "Afrikaners" (or rather the initial Cape Dutch settIers and the British who came later) had this weird idea, that they can just claim land on the other side of the globe and not have to consider the consequences they cause for the locals. The British eventually realised that this Colonialism thing just doesn't go along very well with democratic values, since it forces the colonial power to use repression to subjugate the rightful owners of the land. The "Afrikaners" on the hand, driven by their particular cultural values, thought that they were smarter than the British, the French, the Spanish and the Portugese, who all started shutting down their colonial program eventually. The "Afrikaners" (= the National Party as their main political outlet) thought that if they introduced the delusional social-engineering approach commonly known as "apartheid", they could maintain their minority dominance and their continued presence on most of the fertile land of the territory, while not having to deal with the rights and aspirations of the actual South African population. Looking back, the National Party was basically a mad cult of weird social engineering proponents, who motivated by bigot delusions and inspired by European Fascism (it's German brand in particulary), thought that by introducing their apartheid policies, they could forever exclude the majority of the population from participating in their monocultural system of governance, which is of course absurd. No country can be run by an alien minority which attempts to almost completely sideline the majority of the land's population, only to benefit their small minority. It's just not the way that prosperous, stable, peaceful and enlightened societies work. Mind you: I'm not saying that "multicultural" societies don't have issues: in fact they have. In the case of South Africa it's the "Afrikaners" who are actually foreign to the land, hence the autochthonous South Africans can rightfully demand the foreign minority to integrate into the majority society, just as we expect Muslim foreigners (for example) in Europe, to respect the Christian tradition and secular values. The Orania-type of Afrikaners on the other hand seems to think that the majority has to adapt to their values, which is of course another instance of their delusional and warped mindset.

I think it’s great that they want to preserve their identity culture and language - and I wish them only good luck on their endeavors. I think Afrikaner culture is very rich, diverse, and special; it consists of language, music, religious customs, food, important historic milestones that today’s standard education system does not focus on - yet it is important for them to pass this information on to the next generation. From the Anglo-Boer wars, to military successes, hurtful losses, fallen heroes and even crimes against humanity committed against their people in concentration camps… all these things are not only important to preserve, but are vital to preserve, for we are nothing without our roots. I applaud the work they do and wish them success, because the success of any town in South Africa, is the success of all South Africa… I would add that I think that after covid we have witnessed how important being self sufficient is - as it helps our government focus on saving lives at a time of crises. the whole of South Africa can learn a thing or two from their success and learn about their creative initiatives in self sufficiency. I have to add, that they deserve respect and not be a target to those that want to paint them In a negative light in the media. they have every right to preserve their identity. As a Jewish South African, I went to a Jewish day school that taught me about my heritage, about South Africa about my religion, including all The other subjects like mathematics, Zulu, Afrikaans, science, biology, geography etc etc . Any South African was welcomed into my school - but obviously no one came, because of our daily morning prayers and other religious aspects that others were non interested in - so I can understand when they say that anyone is invited but they will need to assimilate into their culture.

@Gloria Garcia And that wasn't even the point of the comment. I am criticizing the journalistic etiquette on display here. Instead of producing a race-baiting hit piece, how about they interview victims of farm murders and report on the government's implicit support of farm murders? Now there is a news-worthy story.

Crime started in 1652 in South Africa when thugs from Europe came and stole our Land.

@@southafricannewschannel1988 So savage black-on-black violence and land-grabbing aren't considered crimes? The Bantu tribes were brutally intolerant, xenophobic and territorial long before Europeans arrived. Again, not the point of my comment anyway.

Ow and let me guess it's the only crime free community in South Africa because it's the only community that doesn't have black people?

Only that you wouldn't because there is a vetting process to get land stock and your desire to forget history will hurt you so bad. This community is an apartheid set up. If they are unhappy, they can go to EU. This is Africa. No African community in France which has a Humongous African population from slavery.

The interviewer asked if he knew that was part of South Africa? I think the question should have been. Do know do you know you are inside South Africa? I wonder what his answer would have been. THE next thing you know they will be fighting for Independent. U wait and C.

Fighting for independence is an African tradition.

Orania won’t, but Western Cape will. Already almost half of all people there are in favour of independence.

The push to discredit Orania is purely out of jealousy. Because the current SA government has failed to maintain a fully functioning country given to them. They now see fit to vilify the afrikaner who under great hardship and opposition has out of almost nothing created a booming town when all other towns in SA have failed under the anc. Instead of taking lessons from the afrikaner they taint their achievements. I'm not afrikaner but it's very admiral mense. Keep it up.
