3:01 I just want everybody to take a moment to appreciate this scene. Bruno's change in his voice really impressed me when I first watched the movie, because he was literally so determined to protect his niece, that she was ready to even argue with Abuela. Because of his character that's impressive, because in case you didn't know, in the deleted scenes, he actually does have a fight with Abuela, saying that he wishes he was dead, but the creators said Bruno's character wouldn't have the courage to fight with Abuela, that's why they deleted the scene. He was not ready to face Abuela, because of how scared he was of her. Even Mirabel mentioned it "You're scared Abuela will see you, right?". So for him to make such a big step JUST to protect his niece is one of the most wholesome things I saw in the movie.

Right. The fact that no one ever consoled him and thought about the burden he carried, always seeing the future and seeing something bad happen. I don't think people see the severity of the situation simply because the family made amends with him, but he felt forced too isolate himself within the walls, for OVER A DECADE. The birthdays he missed, the conversations, the family dinners. All because people couldn't grasp the fact that he's not MAKING things happen, he's just seeing them. Bruno is the most selfless of the Madrigals. He separated himself from his family and tarnished his own reputation in their heads to protect Mirabel. He thinks he's bad luck because of how the family antagonizes him; because he would sooner hold contempt for himself than hold his family accountable. He sealed a bunch of the cracks himself in a desperate attempt to preserve a life he could never truly be a part of . . . . for them. When he thought Abuela would blame Mirabel for the house collapsing his first thought was to take all the blame for her. When he met his family again his first thought was to apologize for everything, even for things that weren't really his fault. He's selfless to a point where it's very damaging, but it's also very endearing.

Bruno is such a breath of fresh air, they could've easily made him another villian but they made him one of the most kind hearted and selfless characters in the film. Like this man hid away for 10 years not because his family and the town mistreated him, but because he knew if they saw the vision of Mirabel they would've treated her the same way they treated him, and even despite despite that he stays in the walls of the house because he still loves them. If that doesn't show how much he adores his family then I don't know what will I love the moment at 2:09 when he raises his voice, he immediately apologises and quiets down when he sees Mirabel flinch. It shows his understanding and love for his niece, and it makes you wonder if he saw himself when she flinched He's basically a reverse twist villain, instead of being a seemily nice guy who turns out to be evil without any build up, he's someone who's seen as a villian but in reality he's a complete cinnamon bun and there's just enough hints to have this reveal be believable

One of the main things I love about Bruno? He NEVER stopped looking out for Maribel. He literally left the family to protect her, not wanting his final vision to ruin how everyone saw her. He even rode in on a horse, prepared to tell Abuela off for blaming Maribel for what happened to the house. That is HUGE for Bruno's character. He was used to keeping quiet and letting people think the worst about him; but he was prepared to stand up to Abuela once and for all --- all so he could protect Maribel from possibly going through what HE was going through. when I heard Bruno explain his reason on why he stays inside the walls of casita, my heart SHATTERED. The plate he drew to act as if he’s eating with the family was even more sad, hence another reason I felt like tearing up when watching this film. My family saw it as a cute film, but my uncle who’s also a scapegoat had lived in my grandparents basement for so long and when he moved away without notice, they completely made him look like the bad guy and mentioned us to not bring up his name

I am the Bruno of my family 😅 From the age of 13 They’ve branded me as sly and described me as demonic, weird/untrustworthy when they simply just didn’t understand me - I was literally just shy and awkward especially because i’m an only child whilst my cousins, Aunts & Uncle all had brothers and sisters that they could socially bounce of of - I had no one to relate to. At the age of 21 I realised/learnt that my family lacks emotional intelligence & maturity. I can’t help but hold a grudge against them as they’ve treated myself and my mother disgustingly over the last few years - I am planning to finally address these matters to my family members at some point, one by one, but it will take a lot of prep work, as i’ll be dealing with immature people who will want to belittle me.

Honestly I love this subversion of him so much, for awhile I had assumed he would've been the villain especially after hearing the "We Don't Talk About Bruno" song, only for him to been shown as this super caring and kinda socially awkward dweeb and I just feel in love. Both because he's genuinely adorable and hilarious and because I felt so incredibly bad for him. Like everyone treated him like shit just because he could see the future like he was CAUSING what was happening to people. Hell despite the family straight up villainizing him he still loves them enough that he draws his own dinner setting next to the dining room. Bruno is the best character in this movie hands down.

I love how all the character quirks make sense. Bruno often sees bad things in his visions, so he relies on superstitions to give him a greater sense of control over the situation.
