Disney On Ice cutting out four _Encanto_ characters to make room for _Frozen_ reminds me of when Disney tried to attract _Frozen_ fans to _Coco_ by attaching _Olaf's Frozen Adventure_ to the start, even though people who already wanted to watch _Coco_ found it a waste of time.

I actually remember that time when Olaf’s Frozen Adventure was a “theatre short” for Coco before getting cut out. I agree to say, it did waste my time that the popcorn was almost finished lol. Still enjoyed Coco regardless.

One of the funniest things for me was that they *obviously* can't cut any part of We Don't Talk About Bruno so instead of getting rid of Camilos section there they just have his disembodied voice singing it despite every other part of the show having someone lip syncing that section.

I love how Abuela's dress is also padded, making her skater have that large but shrunk silhouette that most people associate with older people, even though her character in the movie doesn't have that exaggerated of a figure.

Mirabel's magic is left up to interpretation, but to me it felt like she was going to grow up and become the "next Abuela". Abuela doesn't have any magic powers, but she watches over the family and town all the same. Mirabel has a special connection to Casita (seen with her really in-sync movements with the house) plus she is able to connect and love her family and know who they are past just their gifts (like she does with Luisa, Isabela and Antonio).

Isabela has some real talent in the acrobatics version. My props to her performer. Also, 8:52. Maybe the audio guy knew “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” was so popular, so he lowered the volume knob by a few decibels to let the audience sing it out loud! That takes real dedication

I think there's so little merchandise and the "stuck on the backside" feel comes from the fact that Disney didn't expect Encanto to succeed. Think about it, when was the first time most people knew it existed? After it'd come out and the songs went viral, right? Disney did very little marketing on this film and the smash hit it turned into is a complete shock to the system. They didn't expect it would gain such a massive, deserved following right off the bat, so they don't have the whole family's costumes done yet. That's why only Mirabel and Bruno are in the parks, those are the only park-ready costumes they have at the moment.

I don't know about parks, but there seemed to be a decent enough amount of Encanto merch when the film dropped. Problem is, it became incredibly difficult to find because most of it sold out quite quickly. Still does, and some stores are still struggling to keep it in stock. To this day, I've only ever seen the Funko Pop of the matriarch, and that was several months after the movie.

exactly the fact I’m only starting to see encanto merch more NOW a year later proves it. Encanto had terrible marketing and very limited merch for atleast 4 months. It’s disappointing how they didn’t expect it to succeed

@@lilac3266 There was definitely merchandise when the movie came out, just no one cared about it or noticed it until the movie hit Disney +. But once it did, everything sold out and they didn't replenish the stocks for some time after. I wouldn't say Disney outright ignored it like Emperor's New Groove at the time (only got a Happy Meal and some video game) or Strange World currently (absolutely nothing outside of a coloring book), but they certainly didn't think it would have been as successful as it was, and even then it wasn't initially successful in theaters.

@@lilac3266 I distinctly remember at least 3 Lego sets as well. Though they were for the girl play pattern and used the minidoll format instead of minifigs. They don't tend to make those for every Disney movie, even if it was destined to be a popular release. I still remember the disappointing lack of ENG merch when the film came out. Took a year for them to have a Disney Store bean bag plush collection, and 20 years (!) for a figurine set. I don't know what Disney Store presence Encanto had, by the time that film came out the last one in my state closed. I'll take your word on that one. And the Happy Meal tie-in must've been made of some earlier draft of the movie, as it has a capybara that was barely in the movie instead of a more popular family member. And I get the feeling they didn't sell out, since I wound up getting Bruno when trying to get one of the Halloween Pails. Then again, they released it before the movie came out and they already switched to another promotion by the time it hit streaming.

I’m going to watch this in December. I enjoy Disney on Ice a lot in terms of stunts, choreography and costumes. However, I’m still kinda salty about Camilo being cut from the show, I guess they couldn’t figure out how to do his Shapeshifting ability, but his part of WDTAB is soooo good and it would be cool to see him portrayed on ice :(

I feel like they could’ve made it work. It’s Disney and if they could put effort into Olaf they could make Camilo work. Antonio though, that I understand. It would be hard to find an adult to portray a five year old

You should have seen it in the middle section of the show. Since you seen it up close and in the back. So, having to seen it in the middle portion would be given as a third option. Also, I still love “We don’t talk about Bruno.” Which will be my favorite song no matter what.

I have to agree with you that the Luisa "Surface Pressure" number could be " The Single Greatest Production Number Disney On Ice Ever"!! I saw this show in Miami when at that time it was brand new and it looked as though they had been doing it for a long time. The performance was Great!!

This show stage is same frozen from 2014-2020 but remestasted the stage and remplaced others princesses except the little mermaid too remplaced finding nemo toy story and the lion king, in 2022 added encanto too others princesses the beauty and the beast, aladdin and mulan too added miguel from coco and moana

Basically proves how pointless Camillo is in the entire story even with his lines in we don't talk about bruno, but they could also just say he's actually one of the characters dancing just transformed. Antonio is a little boy so it's difficult to translate him to an ice skater even when he's riding the jaguar. Sadly mirabel's parents getting cut sucks but they're very passive characters in the story, the fact that Mariano does more than them and he still didn't make the cut lol just goes to show you.

Wow, it's been years since I've watched Disney On Ice tour shows since around 2005, I watched 100 Years of Magic (now known as Let's Celebrate) and Princess Classics as a kid. The only Disney ice show I've ever seen (and probably will see) was The Incredibles Magic Kingdom Adventure, and the only reason I saw it was because it was Disney Park centric. Yes, they did that thing I hate where they blended Disneyland and WDW Magic Kingdom into one park, but I can get past it for a show centered around Disney theme parks.

My theory for Mirabel's gift was that when she reached for her door handle as a child, instead of it giving her some sort of visible ability and making a new room, the magic simply went inside her to be protected until it was needed again after rebuilding. She was like a vessel connected to the magic more closely than the rest, which is why she seemed to have such a close connection to Casita compared to the rest of her family. Even to the very last moment when the house was breaking, Casita simply pushed everyone to safety outside but helped Mirabel to get the candle and protect her from harm. Then at the end when she touched the new doorknob that magic was released, and brought everything back again, and she could go on to be the new carer of the miracle.
