Well done for BBC Australia for releasing this. I've ordered it off ebay-not cheap but it will bring back so many memories from my childhood when I watched this series and thought it was truly enchanting!!!

Yes, I received my DVD. The production is very 'of its time,' but it brought back a lot of memories, the Uglywuglies in particular, frightened me as a child. Definitely worth a watch!

This is a great book. Have read it many times. Thankyou for letting us see this.

This is available to purchase and own in the UK at the BBC Store. 'To own' means watching it through a browser or app. I ca nnot comment on the quality because I have not bought it yet. Like most, I vaguely recall the weirdly shaped creatures scaring the living daylights out of me:)

Is this the only version of this story that exists on film? I’m reading the book and am surprised that it has never been made into a movie. It would have fit in great when they made A Little Princess and The Secret Garden back in the 90’s.

Is this the series with the statues in the garden that came alive in the moonlight?

where can I get a copy of this fabulous series? I loved it all those years ago I wish I could see it all again :(
You can buy the DVD on Amazon for about £25 but as its only available in Australia you need a region 4 ( I think) DVD player. Please someone put the whole thing on .

Was there a masked ball in this where the 'statues' came to life and danced? Just have this memory of characters in 18th century costume dancing and then becoming very sinister! Always wondered what that was!

I remember that as well, but I thought it was a live adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, not this E. Nesbit story.

Is there any way to watch the whole show?

Currently reading the novel; this E. Nesbit's crowning achievement!

Was this the show with white dinosaur statues and ugly wuglies or am I mixing it up with another?
@markwhelan657011 жыл бұрын
Exactly right...the girl grew so long she had to hide inside the dinosaur...and those wuglies gave me nightmares for years

mark whelan Thanks Mark - sometimes get flashes of this show, then google it and find nothing. So I think I'm going nuts or dreamt it. Nice to have some validation finally!

Managed to find a copy and the story is good but the acting is terrible! Very corny now I suppose it seemed good as a child.
