I’m from the United States. I have a lot of admiration and respect for China, I think if average American people could see what China was really like instead of having the media drum up hatred and war mongering, then we could perhaps learn a lot from one another, and make the world a much more safe and prosperous place. Love to China from an American college student 🇺🇸❤️🇨🇳

Devil in disguise is say not for the seek of saying. Wow, awesome. Got goose bumps of nostalgia watching this one. 20 years ago, I rode a one-speed Shanghai Yongjiu bike from Chengdu to Wawushan (瓦屋山), in area of Ya'an. Got pulled over by the police to say hi. Had never seen a foreigner. Was invited to dinner at a toll station as I was passing through. Had a nice old man find me a hotel room after I'd ridden a bike for like 9 hours. Was so exhausted. But went out for some dog meat dinner. That was was most places in that town had. Also did another four day trip south from Chengdu through 彭山 to 峨眉山 then to 乐山 and back to Chengdu. This also cut across your route. at the time, it was much dirtier and less organlized looking, but still beautiful and friendly and helpful people. Looks like development hasn't ruined it. Very happy to see it still looks very inviting! Love it in rural China. Really like rural life in the West. Not familiar with the East so much, but your place looks nice. Enjoy your dream!

@@kats_journey_east China is always awesome to explore. Back then Chengdu's third ring road was close to what I’d call a forest with traders from outside the city setting up makeshift markets on rugs/sheets on the median. Inside the second ring road, the city was quite developed, many sky scrapers, bicycles, buses, mopeds, and VW Santanas, but no subway. Air was polluted. Summer sun was a yellowing orange dot in a yellow gray sky and every night I had to clean black from my nose. Nowadays, I hear it is quite modern and clean. Good for Chengdu! Second bike trip was during SARS. Arrived in Emei only to be quarantined and then sneak away to climb Emei mountain for a couple days. Back then, I road on the main roads. Places like 新津, 眉山,and 峨眉山市had bicycle lanes, but in between it was mostly mean and 东风trucks。 Been to China 19 times now. Cannot wait until next time. Hopefully can go for New Years and then take my wife to 张家界 or somewhere else pretty in central or SW China. BTW, your Chinese quiet good. Know your HSK level?

This culture also existed in Japan (Shinto神道) - watch Spirited Away to understand it more. I have to say that electric toothbrushes are as important as dishwashers. I've been using Philips Sonicare for 2 years and now it has a problem with the button. This is what I need lol.😂

So nice seeing you save the tiny insect on the road, I am a buhdist and living in Canada (nice knowing that you couple reside in Chengdu, my hometown), I do the same thing when walking on the road :)

Thanks for bringing Ya'an, a barely known Chinese city, to overseas viewer. Have been following Chengdu-Lhasa high speed rail to be completion by 2030. Chengdu-Ya'an section was completed and in operation since 2018. Katherine, you are definitely our eyes and ears before we can visit China again. Great work!
