Come with me deep into the mountains of Guangxi to meet the mysterious White Pants Yao people! What is their life like now that they have recently emerged from centuries of isolation? The older and younger generations are people from two completely different worlds.

An unadulterated version and vision of the actual truth of the Chinese government's efforts to eradicate extreme poverty in China. Witness the much better and modern housing, better basic infrastructures, educational and social facilities, etc, etc. Sadly, some section of the world prefer to remain blind about those achievements and would rather frame China as still existing in the 19th or early 20th centuries.

Spectacular documentary. This should be a "National Geographic" episode of "tribes and places you have never heard of." (My initial speculation of the white pants was correct.

Interesting bamboo house. Never thought there are houses that can be woven with bamboo like that. Certainly worth the time to see those. I've seen bamboo houses in my young days around here, but it's mostly bamboo split in half and nailed on to make walls. Most of the time these bamboo houses are not fully made from bamboo though. Only certain parts. Today even if I go deep into the mountains there won't be a bamboo house to be found anymore. Guess you can find bamboo houses in many asian countries but certainly have not seen any woven like that in my life. Woven bamboo baskets we have a lot in our rural communities. Beaded necklaces and wristbands, even beaded clothing can be found near indigenous villages here. All in very colouful designs.

Your videos are full of surprises. Particularly like your humour and also when you "talk & greet" animals or creatures along the way. We enjoy those moments so much :) (Oh, and sometimes you give "names" to the animals you greet). Keep exploring and show us cool stuff! ^_^ Greetings from Canada.

Point of interest. There are some similarities of the Yao tribe with Thailand northern tribes. These drums can be found in Norther Thailand among villages. Plus the Herbs/plants are also common to Northern Thailand. The Storage huts/store are build independently as a UNIT building . The store is a COMMON storage hut for the community/village . These storage huts are also found in LAOS in villages in the mountains . Interesting that there are common life styles among tribes in China/LAOS and Thailand.

Probably the language too, as there're plenty of Hmongic/Miao-Yao languages speakers in Northern Laos.

There was once the infamous Golden Triangle, a confluence of China, Thailand and Lao. The Yao tribal villages were distributed across the boundaries, ideal for the opium trade, now under control. The Yao villages cover a wide territory. The villages are so isolated that a diversity of sub-tribes has emerged.

the white pants yao or baiku yao are a Hmongic speaker I believe, more related to Hmong folks than mien folks but are just categorized as yao. both Hmong, mien and other related tribes also live in mainland Southeast Asia too.

@@kats_journey_east I think the attempt to make such a long video is worthwhile. Presenting the process of exploration as raw as possible, rather than generalizing and replacing it with your own words, will greatly increase the credibility and intelligibility of the work. I watched this video twice to avoid missing any interesting details. The government's investment (road building) and subsidy (houses building) have helped the Baiku Yao people out of the harsh living environment, which is definitely a commendable achievement. Hope that there will be more policy support for the development of the rural economy in the future. Your great work has allowed me, an overseas Chinese, to have a deep understanding of China's villages and ethnic minorities. You have incredibly interesting souls! thank you!
