Respect for the team that investigated this amazing bird. Even more respect to these magnificent birds. Just amazing to see that a small creature like that is able to be such a champion

These birds are present here in Yellowknife during the spring and summer by the hundreds. Never really thought much of them but wow, didn't realize they migrate so far away every year! They definitely are quite the aggressive nest defenders. I see them fighting off the ravens here almost constantly. It really is a free admission to an amazing airshow lol! Sometimes I think the ravens pick on the terns just for fun as they do seem to enjoy the aerial chase that inevitably ensues.

I just visited mid-coast Maine and the Puffin project museum, and collaterally learned about Arctic Terns. They should wear superhero capes, just amazing birds. And this video was so informative!

I know this comment is very old, but post-breeding birds often meander around and do weird stuff. It's kinda like their summer vacation. They rarely waste time en route to their breeding grounds, because their mating drive is so strong. But their fall migration is far more leisurely.

It's such an irony. These birds can fly from pole to pole without having anyone stopping them. Me and my wife have been trying for 5 years now to settle and live together and because of many borders and regulations issues, haven't succeeded yet.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil 4:13 The Arctic Tern is one of the most remarkable birds in the world. It migrates farther than any other bird, traveling late in August from its nesting place within the Arctic Circle to its winter "lodgings" in Antarctica and then back to the Arctic Circle again -- an annual round trip of more than 11,000 miles! These small birds make their long trip on nothing but a sense of urgency, direction, and endurance that God has put within them. Similarly, God has placed within the Christian a power which both directs and drives his life. "...For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." (Phil. 2:12) "To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily." (Col. 1:29)

Wait, I thought the Earth was flat, and that Antarctica was this big ring around the Flat Earth. Btw, just in case some couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic. Well, it looks like the Arctic Tern just debunked the Flat Earth Theory!
