In a country where there's so much darkness in our political systems, here we have two rays of light. When I hear Claudia speak I am reminded of brother Cornel West, to which I can not think of higher praise. I also see that same light in Karina. I lived for a couple of years in the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam (Cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam) and it was a breath of fresh air compared to life in the US. While hardly perfect and still dealing with the aftermath of the "American War", especially with the greatly elevated cases of cancer caused by the US' use of dioxins during that war, Việt Nam is a nation that has much happiness, much hope and much less inequity. That happiness and sense of hope became part of me. Respect for their struggle for freedom was truly reenforced when I had the honor of having tea with a kind woman that was a Việt Minh soldier and a man, while in college in Cuba, was friends with Che Guevara. Both shared with me some bitter and entertaining stories. When I spoke lovingly of Bác Hồ I saw smiles on their faces because I greatly respected the man that lead their nation to freedom. Everything I was ever taught about socialism in the US was a lie. A version of socialism created to fit our nation would start us on the path of more equity in housing, healthcare, transportation and family income which I believe is a path towards making our nation a happier place. It is rare and refreshing these days to be able to speak of happiness and real hope concerning politics but there it is. Thank you.

I have come to understand that the reason that movements aren't able to move as fast as we need it to is because our movements fail to do the necessary first step, which is honest true real PERCEPTION CHANGE - and what I mean by this is that people have to acknowledge and understand their indoctrination and the propagandizing of their minds (especially in childhood), working through their indoctrination and the overwhelming propaganda (imperialism, colonialism, capitalism, etc.) through a process of UNLEARNING before they can even begin to LEARN a new direction away from that indoctrination and propaganda. Our movements continually try to skip this completely necessary first step and without doing it we can't overcome the cognitive dissonance wall that is built up through indoctrination/propaganda. These ladies make a lot of good, salient points about what we've become here in America, and the challenges we face. We have indeed become a Corporatocracy and Oligarchy, worse than ever before. But to me, the most realistic and attainable form of government is a form of 'compassionate Capitalism', like Bernie Sanders espouses. Housing and food for the homeless, more programs for 'special needs' people, affordable housing, affordable healthcare, affordable transportation, free college (instead of money for wars), peace solutions instead of wars, etc. If only more Americans voted for progressive people like Sanders in Congress and for POTUS, we would be a much saner, better country.

I think Claudia de la Cruz and Karina Garcia are good people who means well. But they are gravely mistaken. There were two great events that raised the standard of living for humanity: (1) Large Scale Farming or Agriculture and (2) Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution raised the standard of living for everyone, not just the wealthy. If you look at the poor, under-developed, third world countries in the world they are stuck at the agrarian stage. They are not true industrialized countries. To this day only a handful (10-12) countries have achieved true industrialization. Their people, on average, have the highest standard of living in the world, and their society has a large middle class. Those countries evolved, without centralized planning, into modern industrialized countries. These countries have a true "free-market" capitalistic trading system. To achieve a "free-market" system you must have a true modern republican form of government with separation of powers and effective checks & balances. The representatives in government are elected by the people who make up the country. You must a strong and independent judicial system in order to have the Rule of Law. Lastly it is the people within a society who create new products and services that make our lives better. Their individual rights and more specifically their individual property rights must be respected. When individual property rights are respected and protected by law then people will give their full effort in creating new and better products and services. Why? Because they reap the reward of their own hard work and ingenuity. What Claudia de la Cruz calls socialism is what Mao Zedong calls Chinese Communism, is what Deng Xiaoping calls new Chinese socialism. Using the excuse of creating a greater good by taking someone else's handwork and ingenuity. This excuse says there is no such thing as individual rights and no such thing as individual property rights. If you allow this to happen then everyone knows there is no justice, there is no law. No one will work to create something new, something better. America will stagnate. Just go and visit Cuba. Everyone is just sitting around waiting for someone else to give them some money. If you want America to stagnate. If you want America to fail. Then embrace the lie of Socialism or Communism. The lie that is Socialism and Communism is the absolute power of tyranny. Someone has the power to strip you of your effort, your work, and your ingenuity. That is the nature of absolute power, it corrupts absolutely.
