Glad to see some positive comments here. I’m in a similar situation. Blessed with a good career unrelated to woodworking that allows me to buy cost prohibitive machines without regards to ROI. I was thinking of creating a channel and posting build videos now and then. But didn’t want the majority of comments to be negative.
@carpentryjoineryandcabinet63355 күн бұрын
You should do it still, I think there is a lot more positivity on the internet than negativity in reality, we just remember the negative comments more. Folks are generally good. 👍

Do it! People buy Porsches and post them. I would argue that my hobby is less than a new 911 with the associated garage install. I am blessed for sure. In future years I will try to squeeze some ROI out of this to supplement our retirement!

Good morning 🌅, Happy New Year, 🥳, Great shop territorial, very good idea going over to 3 phase, I believe from when I was running my business back in the UK, three phase is cheaper on business tariff, plus I think the motors are more efficient, and as for lighting cannot seem to have enough, the people that came in to do my lighting set my lights up in a H section, and I have seen hexagon lighting system where they all linked together, might be worth having a look along these lines or even seeing somebody with their lighting system already set up, Good luck with your next project look forward to seeing , what’s happening in the next tutorial, from France.

My humble opinion... ditch the line bore, such a massive foot print for what it does. Get a Blum minipress and you get the line boring as well as hinge boring and mount it on the same table as your new delta. I loved my minipress, get extra flip stops with it and you can be lighting quick on it. The new go go gadget one looks crazy but I've never used it.
@pkwoodworking5 күн бұрын
I love the Omal hinge boring machine I have, so going to shy away from the Blum. I may ditch the line boring machine, I have the Festool LR32 system if I don't do many cabinets in the future.

Looking good, I wish I could have my extractor outside the back of the workshop here in the UK, but it's too cold and it drags all the heat out of the workshop so quickly, so unless we suddenly develop a southern Californian climate, I'm going to have to keep it in the shop 🤷🏻♂️. 👍
@steveh87245 күн бұрын
I'm in New England in the US and have similar concerns both for loss of wam air in winter and loss of cool dry air in summer. I'm wondering whether some sort of highly filtered air return from exterior space back into shop space could be a solution. Have you considered such a possibility? One downside would be less noise isolation, but maybe it could work...
@carpentryjoineryandcabinet63355 күн бұрын
@steveh8724 I did think about it, but then I thought if I'm going to build a fully enclosed space that can retain heat just for the extractor, I kind of may as well just make that a workshop extension and use the space. If it could just be a leantoo roof then I would be more tempted. I also have a sawdust burner in the workshop for heat, and in the old place when I tried to vent the extractor outside it created negative pressure in the workshop, which drew all the smoke back down the flue, so there is that to watch out for too 😂💨💨💨💨💨
@pkwoodworking5 күн бұрын
The outside room is insulated and shares the air with the main shop so I am not dumping cold or hot air outside. It just is more quiet.
@pkwoodworking5 күн бұрын
Steve, that is what I did in the old shop and now will do in the new shop. I have a video on how I built the old one on my channel. You make sure the hole between the shops is large enough to not impede air flow. Keep both spaces insulated and you are good.
@newdutchworkshop70265 күн бұрын
Most professional dust extractors with clean air output (where the dust doesn't pass through the fan) will allow for filtered air to be returned through a separate duct. With some smart ducting and blast gates you can even choose to vent the filtered air outside in the summer and inside in the winter. My dust extractor is 7.5kW and the filtered air comes out around 10 degrees celsius warmer than room temperature so it should help to warm up the shop a bit in winter.

Two questions for you. How deep is your shop? Looks like your shop floor is covered with horse stall mats. Do you find them having an enough cushion in them to ease stress on your feet and back like a traditional anti-fatigue would? I would think the horse stall mat makes moving wheeled tools much easier, if nit easy but the density of the mat makes me wonder if they still offer enough cushion to provide some physical relief. Thanks for the video.

The shop is 22x45 outside and 21x44 inside. I use 1/2" thick rubber rolls from flooring.com they are for gyms and are really heavy duty. They are a game changer for my back and legs for sure. moving large machines on the rubber is a no go. As soon as they get close to 1000 pounds they will not roll without bunching up the rubber.
