"It was interesting. Currency is so abstract and this and the '08 free fall illustrates just how convoluted it's become. I'm not sure 'ponzi scheme' is the best analogy for the global finance situation we're in. A single investment scheme and world markets regulated or controlled by governments are very different beasts. Every recession or depression brings inflation. Only time will tell how much. I'm skeptical about the insistence that gold is still the most real money. I'm no expert but it seems we've moved too far beyond that. I just wonder with the CEO of a gold selling website going on and on about it, that there's a conflict of interest and they may be inflating things to drum up gold sales. If I had money to save I might consider some gold just in case, to diversify. But if you have a gold bar and the economy completely tanks, I don't think there's much good that bar will do. Your dollar is worth less than a penny while the largest debt creating entities have a value in terms of goods, services and freedom they can afford that is 3x the value of the debt it creates. The solution to ending such a system and inequality is to invest in public projects with currency that is entirely non debt based and unable to be debt based which would eventually switch the entire world economy to a non debt based system.

It's a good thing we got off the gold standard because that would have caused deflation. The federal government doesn't need to take out loans. All they have to do is nationalize the Federal Reserve or reverse it so that the Federal Reserve issues bonds to the Treasury and pays back the Treasury. Those funds are then used to finance the government. Most of our debt is owed to ourselves through the Federal Reserve or the government, which they could just cancel out. The government doesn't even have to issue bonds; it's just a safe investment for private individuals, governments, and corporations.

All politicians say bs things like "its only temporary" but it became obviously quickly that going back on the gold standard was impossible so everyone just kept playing along with the charade. There was no other better option till Jan 3, 2009. But now we have a solution and it won't be gold that we move too because the same issues with trust remain- they can sell you gold certificates that are once again not actually backed by real gold in a vault somewhere and you can never verify it. But with Bitcoin, you can both verify it's total as well as hold it yourself and not need banks. You can then send/spend it person to person or business to business and our money will once again be backed by something that took work to produce. We are ready for the global currency crises.

Gold is perfectly useless to be money and still hold value because of its limited usefulness. I prefer silver because it has the same monetary properties as gold but is consumed way faster by manufacturing but there's not really enough for silver to be monitised in a bi-metalic standard

That's misunderstanding what gold was used for in currency. The idea of "worth its weight in gold" is where it originates. Gold was simply the means by which barter economies established values of goods and services. Tying a currency to it just meant you didn't need to carry the weight around. So regardless of the metal, the concept is the same... it's a means of exchange of real goods and services. A FIAT currency ignores that goods and services can be limited and instead forces debt to be the entire systems focus. This currency doesn't deal in real values of goods and services but instead maximizes the amount of debt. And that's true of having gold silver or whatever else. If the entire economy is debt (and it is) then the value of such metals is irrelevant to such a system. Gold purchase? You created and traded debt. Silver? Same thing. Good? Same. Car? Same. The true escape isn't switching back to a system of metal exchange but a non debt based currency.

Money has to be necessarily worthless. Or it is barter exchange. Value of gold is only imaginary. Gold is the most useless metal. Currency backed by gold is just artificially fixing gold price. Common people are being fooled in the name of gold backed currency.
