End of the Road - The Capture of Tyson | Adam Penning | Carp Fishing

Adam Penning featured in our final Reflections series, where he recalled his campaign on Grendon’s Hope Lake. Despite catching some truly wonderful carp, he had yet to land the one he wanted most, a common carp known as Tyson. Adam boldly stated there were only three outcomes to his story; the carp dies, he dies or he catches him and thankfully it was the latter that came to fruition in the end. Sit back as Adam recounts the final months of his incredible campaign leading up to the capture of his new personal best at over 54lb!

I love how carp anglers big themselves up when they've caught "a rare one to the bank". Unless you are stalking/floater fishing, you don't get to chose which carp picks up your bait. Yes you have to have a rig that is good enough and a bait that is good enough, but after that it's random.

Hi Adam , Jack The Hat Solomon here, I know I Only messaged you the other the day asking for a quick chat about all things carp fishing, well....while suffering from insomnia for the last 3 or 4 days i thought I'd watch a couple KZbin vids as I try not to watch or talk about fishing at home when I'm not fishing drives me crazy cos I'm at home and not on the bank and I've not fished since last week I'm October as I promise Mrs and kids is but more for birthday and Xmas this but I have been baiting up my new syndicate i call it the Mystery Old Farm EST Lake carp up to and 2 possibly 3 over 40lb atbroght time of year theres only 65 originals in the lak3 + 14 new stockies that got put in 2 weeks ag8 lale is 3to4 acres max but its got everything u want from a lake ok it's a little dream od a lake to fish to be honest im lucky i got invited to join the lake and fish It its a none publicity water bit hush hush anyway ive started watching this video and ive got 23mins into it and stopped lol well it's like your reading a script from out my head basically how Ur talking about going around doing your business is how Ive been going about mine was using a Krill based bait called the Heist from my baits team @incrediblebaits boilie range after my 3rd session what i thought was right the 40lb common im targeting likes nutty baits amd all the muggy beautyful scaley black mirrors will get caught on most things but love a fishy bait loads and krill is best fishy bait ever made fact! Sticky 1st best Krill range incredible Baits 2nd the best Krill range that why I was using it but I've switch to the trap bait range it's a tiger nut based bait range well I make special TigerNut + a couple special flavours Hookbaits that I thought about making in 2013 when I used to my bait ideas with Nash Bait product through Taswood Lake Norfolk. I called my baits my Theory Hool Baits my Taswood specials . but i knew if I wanted to catch the big common I need to be using a nutty bait so I switched to The Trap bait range I've now finished my summer Autum campaign on Bottle Pit in Suffolk I've been baiting up since October on lake 2 for my winter campaign starting 3rd January 2024 and I've put bait in so much bait In around the whole lake. Me and my mum whitnessed the other day when went to bait up the 2 Biggest Carp in the lake A upper 30mirror maybe 3lb9 last caught 18momths ago at 37lb ish and a Common last caught over a year ago at 39lb + looked well over 40lb to me from 3 ft away in crystal clear water I had dropped 12 to 18 12mm trap Boilies on to a spot Infront the swim I'm baiting shall we say a handful under the rod tips rod over hang lake by3ft or more slack line any fish swimming round my margin won't come into or nearly my slack lines if I see carp like me mum did the other day I'll gently lower a rug in there heads I could of reached out and picked them out the water they were that close in but they were Ali e the other group of 5to8 carp that were heads down tails up in 3to4dt water in a hole in the weed ive been bait for 9 weeka my maked chod middle rod spot they were apl ivwr rhe bait id juat baited up with 30mins early soon as a oack founs my bait they all statted munchie but these l2 big 1s feed 9n scrap whutnessed it with my own eyes ive baites enough seen enough to tell me soon as the biggys see a couple my boilies off the main baited zone away from any so called danger i knew id fish singles this winter 1 popup on a naked chod rod ans 2 3incg hooklinks in PVA bags crumb few pellets and my Special Tiger Nut with a BiG Twist MUTZ NUTZ hookbaits my THEORY HOOK BAITS . Hi Stuart, Adam uses a variety of hook links in his angling, with a none coated braid and soft coated braid being his two favourites. He often uses a stringer or bag to stop them tangling in the cast 👍
