I never get tired of this song. The cadence is as lilting and relaxed as it is complex. Just as any relationship requires dedication and attention, it's worth it just to be able to sing along... until my voice starts cracking from emotion.

You may be troubled and thankfully being gay is not one of your troubles!!! Anyone who has been in love and felt the defeat, insecurity, panic and worthless that beset you when you can feel it unraveling is likely to cry listening to this song!!! The line that most breaks my heart??? "And if there's nothing left can you tell me why that it is you're holding on to me".... That was my last boyfriend for at least the final, torturous 6 months of our relationship!!! He wasn't happy and didn't have anything to say about me but whenever I would suggest that we end it and move on he would cry and plead and go on about how he didn't know how he would live through the breakup!!! All it was was that he was afraid to be alone so he wouldn't let me go!!! I think he would have rather lived out the next 5, 10 or more years of our lives be miserable just to be able to say he was part of a couple!!!

And….. …..I’m done! It’s bad enough that the song itself makes me cry. But, that’s just not good enough. You just had to throw in the dancing and make me ugly cry! And in an 8 month long battle with depression, I’m pretty much cried out. So, you are a sadist! And, I sincerely thank you for sharing.

I cry every time I hear this song too. I'm an old man and alone now, not by choice believe me. Since I'm rather an optimistic person, hope is still there and will remain so till my last day on Earth. Things will change positively for you, Matthew, I'm sure of that. Maybe they have already, I hope so from the bottom of my heart. It's not the end of the world, it's a new beginning, a new life, Matthew. One day you'll agree with me....Kisses for you, Alain.

I agree with Geoff & James...it is perfect! Matt has such a beautiful voice and has such a sweet presence. Be sure to see him in person, if you ever have the chance!

This song, with Matt's slowed down take the refrains from the original recording of "somebody who, somebody who" and "don't you wanna dance" "say you wanna dance" presented the perfect opportunity to use the full chorus to turn those words into the melancholy, pleading, does anyone find me worthy to dance with/or to be showered with their love!!! And this may seem minor or petty to some... but this is a performance at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the most prestigious performance venue in our Nation's Capital and Matt needs to dress like he knows where he is!!! If the entire chorus standing behind him in TUXEDOS didn't make him rethink the flannel shirt and jeans look someone on the artistic staff should have just brought one to his dressing room the night before the performance and on the day of a wardrobe person should have stopped by to see if it was the correct size and if he wanted them to steam it before the performance!!!

It´s exactly what I´ve been going through lately (even the break up happened about one year and a half), and this song causes the same effect on me. Matt Alber knows for sure how to reach our deepest feelings with his excellent music, helping us to keep going on and tresure memories that once made the world a better place, just because love was part of our lives. Good luck with your healing process

@RaymondHng2 ай бұрын
There's the Turtle Creek Chorale of Dalls, TX. Founded February 19, 1980, and currently featuring more than 200 singing members, the Chorale performs a full concert series annually to live audiences in excess of 20,000. While primarily a gay men's chorus, the Turtle Creek Chorale welcomes all men, and those that identify as male, regardless of sexual orientation.

The original video of this song, shot in a barber shop, used to make me burst out in years every damn time I showed it to someone!!! I can't say I have seen very many videos of the DCGMC, but if you compare the arrangement used in this beautiful performance to their performance of Dancing Queen, it should be patently obvious why that arrangement is an abject failure!!! This works because like with pop music you have a sole voice singing lead and the other voices sing back up vocals!!! To have 30 or however many voices singing the "lead" vocal in DQ makes it heavy and weighted!!! The OPPOSITE of what the song is intended to portray/evoke!!! And how a group of gay man can take one of the GAYEST SONGS in pop music and flat and heavy is just inexplicable!!! Oh, the bad dancing that looks NOTHING LIKE THE "Dancing Queen" this song celebrates is just unnecessary and further detracts from the emotional impact the song is meant to have!!! DC is FULL of dancing queens who are on display at whatever clubs are the current hit spots!!! Not to mention home to The Washington Ballet, The Dance Institute of Washington and MANY OTHER long standing and reputable dance schools/companies!!! 2 men from either the Washington Ballet or the DIW would have been able to both choreograph and performance a duet that elevated the vocals by showing a visual representation of the fall, fly, being dangled over the edge!!!
@dawgman94494 жыл бұрын
The dancing is not necessary for this number. Sorry. The guys voice is the showcase not the dancers.
