I had a goal of reading 50 books this year, but then 3 days into the new year I got a Kindle and I read already 21 books in January because of that. Then I did 100 books, but finished it in June. So then I just told myself to read 200 books in total. But then at some point i got 13 books behind last month, so I listened to audiobooks and short books to fill up the gap. Now I'm at 186 books (1 book ahead of schedule atm!) and I'm determined to finishing the year with 200+ books read.

Mood reading definitely helped me enjoy reading and stay out of slumps. Forcing myself to read a book I’m not in to at the moment feels like a disservice to me and to the book. It doesn’t matter how much you read but just enjoying the process.

for your reading out of comfort zone you should try to read a fantasy thats a high fantasy thats not romance centered like Sanderson or something... also love that you are going to try reading classics! I read classics all of the time and there are some amazing ones!

A nonfiction rec that i believe you'll enjoy because it reads like fiction is Evicted by Matthew Desmond. Def out of your comfort zone but it's such an important book that everyone should read at least once. thank you for your video!

If you plan to read classics please read the Anne of green gables series!!! It is harder bc it was written in the 1800s so it’s WAY different than we talk or what we read rn but it’s so cute!!

one of my favorite classics (and my fav book) is Crime and Punishment which i highly recommended! It is quite heavy though, so some lighter classics I love are Heidi, Northanger Abbey (anything by Jane Austen tbh), Anne of Green Gables, etc. I also loved 1984!!

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is a really good book about how he set goals and was really disciplined. If you haven't read Little Women that would be a fun classic to put on your list in 2024. I enjoyed Happy Place as well and agree that Emily Henry is not really a strictly romance author.

I'd really recommend Jane Austen for getting into classics!! I've read my fair share of classics because literature degree and it often feels like a chore to read (especially the ones written by men, to be really blunt) but I genuinely love Austen, specifically Emma, Northanger Abbey, and Pride and Prejudice. Like I literally laugh out loud and giggle like damn fool at the romance more than some contemporary books.

In high school I randomly picked up a memoir and I STILL think about it now that I've finished college. It was "a stolen life" the story of a woman who was kidnapped and held in captivity for like 10+ years. Obviously look up TW for it if you're going to read it but i recommend that one if youre looking to read more memoirs
