To me seeing baby turtles makes me want to say "one more won't matter". However, people need to research how big they will eventually get. There's hundreds of adult RES and Sulcutas that need homes

Hey Kennan did they happen to tell you what technique they used to mass produce those rock like hides that they keep with all the hatchlings? Looks like some sort of spray concrete over a mesh skeleton?
@turtlewars31563 жыл бұрын
It's just portland cement formed over sand.

I heard you say that the tortoise enclosures have solid walls to prevent the tortoise from pacing. I’ve got my sulcata in an enclosure with solid walls but he still paces and scratches the walls all the time. Is that a typical sulcata behavior? Or should that not be happening?
@Hemp19723 жыл бұрын
Sulcatas are diggers. Maybe mulch or hay put over him while scratching. Then he's covered and stops 'digging'.

They take digital X-rays to see if there are eggs. They record everything and have been collecting data and will soon have enough information to publish a book on all of their findings.

You should come visit our zoo in Palm Desert, California I belong to a group and we’re saving the desert tortoise along with Edward Air Force Base, sadly crows and other environmental issues have caused the desert tortoise e to be endangered. Edwards air force base brings us the eggs we hatch them out and And then they get sent off to San Diego zoo, where they raise them to be some adults big enough to be released back into the desert. Also, our group takes in the desert tortoise from people that have either passed, or Can longer take care of them, and we rehome them . right now we have five at the zoo big adults looking for homes . They will stay at the zoo until then with the best medical care I love being involved instead of just being a tortoise owner, I like being part of the solution.

“It looks like there pupil is irregular but it’s there iris” 5:50 this statement makes no sense….
@turtlewars31563 жыл бұрын
The iris is the colored area of an eye that surrounds the pupil. The iris is black/dark pigment and irregularly shaped that give the appearance of a blocky or irregular shaped pupil. Make sense yet?
