He wasn't really considered a failed product; Enji stopped training Toya because his Quirk started to hurt him every time he used it.

The "genetic experiment" only continued because of that reason; he thought that if he had a child with a Quirk mixed between his and Rei's, then Toya would lose motivation and stop trying to become a hero (which made things worse, of course; it all could have been avoided if Enji took the time and effort to actually parent Toya properly).

Endeavor told reí countless times to not let him train but she did nothing about it that doesn’t excuse the physical abuse he did to her. Listen touya situation is bad. But just because some bad shit happened to you does not mean you can kill others

I had a theory that endeavour sees a bit of touya in Bakugo. which makes sense why Endeavour kinda lets Bakugo act the way he does. Bakugo has similar features to his “dead” son Touya, and acts similarly just more aggressive. Bakugo’s quirk also plays a role. Yes it’s explosions. Not fire, but similar to a fire quirk, like his son. Endeavour never got to really see how Touya’s quirk worked and from the flashbacks, we know that Touya was a bit explosive himself-
