I watched every single episode of Endeavour series, can't imagine the series is coming to an end. I remember Shawn said at the very beginning that they will keep doing the series until the stories are told ... we will miss this series and the cast, the best detective duo ever!!

Cried with the Morse episode "Remorseful Day" so many years ago and now I'm sure I will be crying when I view the final season of Endeavour. It is so difficult to come to the end of truly wonderful television. Please, please bring Shaun back to us in another series, he is just a wonderful actor and director!!! Endeavour is my favourite TV series, it is the most complex, interesting, inciting, and the main character, Endeavour Morse, is brilliant, educated and cultivated, as well as sensitive. Since I am a musician I love the Opera and classical music references in the series. I look forward to watch series 9.

I am so sad to know Season 9 will be the final season. I have been a fan and follower of Inspector Morse,Inspector Lewis and above all,Endeavor which I found to be the finest of the franchise. The actors and cast are exceptional and master craftsmen of their art. I will miss them for along with the writers,producers and “director”Shaun are WONDERFUL! As one of your own,having been born in England,Bob Hope,signature song states:thanks for the memories… it’s been a wonderful memory and I thank you so much!

Well I have to tell ya I've hated TV almost forever until I seen Endeavour. The best show ever. My friends who introduced it to me joke about it to this day. Ended up seeing the entire Morse series and you can see how the writing just keeps getting better and better throughout the trilogy. To this day can't believe I anticipate every season. Whew boy! Welp, all good things come to an end they say, but really they could've come up with some way to keep it going. And who knows maybe they come up with a new brand. Best series ever.

I love Shaun Evans as Endeavor and I feel sick that this will be the last season. I hope to see great things from Shaun very soon. I hope he is very selective in what parts he chooses in future. He is one of the great actors alive today. He ought to play some really outstanding roles in future.

I certainly agree with the expressions of dismay that this program has reached its conclusion. It has been a favourite of ours ever since we met Endeavor. Shaun Evans has been wonderful as Morse. I having watched John Thaw as Morse found this to be a great beginning of this character. It truly lends itself to the older Morse. Congratulations to the writers, actors and all who made this program enjoyable.

Just remember fellow Americans, Season 8 is in June '22, it has already been broadcast in the UK, so for us there are TWO seasons left. Season 9 is the final one, filming is going on as we speak (May 2022). It will be hard to let go, but I have faith in the UK writers. They will come up with some new show that will enthrall us once again.

Can't help but be a little teary eyed to see Endeavour end. It's like saying goodbye to family. So eloquently produced and directed. Hopes for a S10, to see the relationship evolve with McNutt, referred to with reverence by John Thaw's Morse. What Happens to the Thursdays and why does Jim return and become the Super? I will have to read Dexter's novels to find out. Thank you, Shaun Evans, for giving us this masterpiece. ❤❤

There cannot be a "happy ending". Colin Dexter, I strongly suspect, wanted to write a modern tragedy, like the tragic opera's he loved so much. It's why he killed Morse off at the end - he wanted no one to come along writing their own "Happy Ending".

We wish Endeavour never ends; it is the only program that gives us opera, poetry and great performances especially Shaun Evans acting always in character revealing the thinking process of Morse with his eyes and that sensitive face he has.

Having viewed the MORSE series…and the spin-off of INSPECTOR LEWIS as well - ENDEAVOR was so amazing to watch the character of Morse develop with all of the intricacies of plots ,themes & character interactions! Have enjoyed this series more than any others on Public Telly ☺️.

That's the point! So many people have written bad reviews of Morse (on the IMDb page and elsewhere) and then say they like Endeavour - they simply don't understand that "Endeavour" IS Morse... and the prequel (Endeavour) is how Morse developed... as you said, "with all of the intricacies of plots, themes & character interactions"! I wonder if those who don't like Morse even know that "Endeavour" is his name!!

I will be so sad to see the show go I have been watching from the very beginning. I have been waiting to see if there was going to be a season 2 when it came out I was so elated to see a season 3. It's been a long haul and I will be so sad to see the show go. I used to watch with my mom who lived in a whole different state . I lived in Iowa she lived in Kansas. She would call me and say it's getting ready and I would sit and tell her just about what was about to happen she would hang up and get ready for it to come on in Kansas. She was always the kind of person that needed to know what was going to happen to the characters. Every time I watch your show I think of her because when the first series started we both talked about if it was going to be a second and she said I sure hope so but I doubt it and now look there's going to be a season 8 and I have not been able to share the last few series with her. So I talked to myself a little bit during the show until my mom was going on and ask her if maybe she would like it too. Sad to say she never thought that they would ever be a couple and I always said they would. Good bye Endeavor I'll miss you Morse and Thursday and all the other wonderful detectives that have come along the way you will be missed.

I'm also devastated its finished. I only found it 2022/21 and never missed it. I might buy the series, as plots are fantastic as are the actors. Let out a yelp when the the bikies showed up to get the bad cop in the final. Other stunner was the opera background to the shooting of the girl in Venice. Watched it twice. I always race home for the repeat, Saturday arvo - no food shopping til its over!!! Devastated!!!

I used to think, how could the TV show be as good as the books? And then I re-read the books recently and I think we'd all agree we've all grown up a bit since the 70's. And Lewis....we all love him to bits.. But the scripts for Endeavour, OMG I shall miss it, not just the tremendous cast, the pathos the intelligence of the writing and yes, a bit corny with the plots, but that's testament to how it should be, surely? I'll miss it. I hope Shaun Evans and his writers start from scratch and re-do the original stories. Doubt it but what's the follow on??

This is good news (I hope). Last season brought things "somewhat" to a suitable end for the series, in setting-up for "Morse" (Thursday's clever pun about the weather, "A Thaw is coming"). But I do think we "need" an explanation of why Morse never once talks about Thursday, his old mentor and partner after 9 years together. Presumably the memory is too painful for Morse, which seems to come down to their parting was either very bad, or very sad.

I've been re-watching Morse over the past few months and I wondered if it might be the Mary Lapsley case. Morse was traumatised by finding her body and we know that the waters were muddied in the investigation by Mary's secret father, Inspector Dawson. I could imagine Thursday letting his temper get the better of him when interviewing suspects in a child murder, so it's not hard to see Morse taking exception and asking to be transferred to another team, led by McNutt. That would explain why he spoke of McNutt as his mentor.

IF YOU BUY THE WHOLE SEASON 8 - Newb tip! Vets know about this, but if you are new, buying the whole season on Amazon Prime does NOT get you instant access to all of the episodes in the US day 1. PBS has an agreement where they get to dole out the episodes one by one just like a regular "broadcast" timeline. Hence, they are not going to allow Amazon or anyone else to offer all of them at once despite the fact they were televised in the UK LAST YEAR. I know, it stinks, but get used to it. Every year has been this way due to the Masterpiece/PBS agreement with the UK producers. So don't scream when you can only watch the first episode in "week one" despite having bought the whole season. They are not ripping you off, they are just making you wait. Almost as bad for us Endeavour droolers... but alas, we desperate Yanks must wait our turn. The rest of your episodes will appear one by one as the weeks go by.
