Creality has the worst naming scheme ever. Do better

For context, I'm a Creality fan, started with end Ender 3 Pro, and have a Ender 5Pro, K1Max and Ender 3V3 SE. I like all of them. Having said that, I'm not sure why this Ender 3 V3 exists, even if it did print all of the materials successfully. You can get a K1 for only $100 more. Or if you want an inexpensive bed-slinger, the Ender 3 V3 SE or KE are both great and print all materials flawlessly. The SE is under $200 and the KE is about $250. $400 for a bed slinger just doesn't make sense, even if it did work. And thanks for another great, informative video!

I suspect one possible reason for a side mount could be to help mitigate larger vibration oscillation at high speed to simplify input shaping requirements

+1 . When I installed Klipper and reached 200 mm/s on my Ender 3 S1, I changed the position of the spool to reduce vibration.

-Ordinarily I'd say that Creality is listening to people who don't like having the spool on top for weight distribution purposes, but the robust frame and what I assume is a fair bit of weight down low in the base seem to make that a minor concern here. -I do like the idea of the spool tension doodad, though. Shame that it doesn't work once the spool has been more than slightly used up. -It seems odd to me that the Z-axis linear rods are a smaller diameter than those for the X- and Y-axes...it's the longest axis, why not have a little extra stiffness there? This review is an interesting counterpoint to the one Aurora Tech Channel just did...she had no particular problems with her standard non-PLA test prints (including a TPU wallet, an ABS crate, a PETG pen holder, and a carbon fiber nylon cable holder) beyond some very much expected shrinkage with ABS due to there being no enclosure. She did notice that the overall print quality is noticeably behind other comparable printers, however; the perforated crate test for stringing was rather horrid compared to even a CR-10 SE, and there were a litany of issues like ringing across a variety of test files. Ultimately, it's certainly interesting to see a commercially-built Core-XZ printer. Other than things like the Voron Switchwire or various Ender 3 upgrade kits, I honestly can't think of another printer quite like this one. Seems to me that 1) the usual budget printer issue of highly variable build quality from one machine to the next is still the case with this printer, 2) there might be great potential for modders and tinkerers to turn this printer into a true beast (Aurora found it to be speedy and had a great first layer once Expert Mode was enabled to make Z-offset adjustments), and 3) whomever Creality employs to name their printers needs to be fired and then maybe exiled to a remote island. Seriously, only the basic shape ties the Ender 3 V3 to the Ender 3 V3 KE and Ender 3 V3 SE...rather than leaning even harder into their historically awful model naming convention, Creality should try making sense with their model names for once. Sovol does it. Bambu Lab does it. Prusa and Elegoo and literally every other 3D printer manufacturer do it. It's not that hard.

it seems to me that the spool is mounted at the lowest center of gravity so it doesnt cause ringing when operating at higher speeds.

Chep, that you for another honest review. The Creality company really baffles me. Years ago, Crealty became an industry leader by offering decent, inexpensive machines like the CR-10 and Ender 3 that opened up 3D printing to a lot of hobbyists who could not afford more expensive machines. I myself have a couple of Creality machines: an Ender 5 Pro and an Ender 2 Pro. Both have served me well, but I have since replaced them with more advanced printers (the Qidi X-Max 3 and X-Smart 3) because I wanted enclosed printers that could print faster and with a wider variety of materials. Creality has made some good (and even excellent) machines, but I have a feeling that they lack focus. They seem to waste a lot of their efforts on different printer models that do nearly the same thing, and not always well. I have a feeling that a lot of their quality problems would go away if they focused on manufacturing and selling just a few printer models rather than the dozens and dozens of Ender 3 variations that they seem to be obsessed with.

My E3 V3 arrived today, I'm very impressed with the speed and it doesn't look like it came out of someone's garage. My only complaint so far is that Creality really needs to improve their instructions. Assembly pictures are too small and low resolution to be clear. Operation instructions are no better. Still, I like it very much.

That's the problem with Creality. They move on to the next printer without dialing any of them in. Then again if you have Creality fan boys who just want the next printer they will keep up this business practice.
@rodbacon9489
@rodbacon9489 7 ай бұрын
It's obvious why they used a side-mounted filament holder. Putting an extra KG on top of that flimsy frame will result in a lot of flex, and poor quality prints (that get worse the taller your print gets). I've dealt with the same thing for years on my Artillery Sindwinder printers. I suspect you should be looking at some bracing of the chassis if you want to move the filament overhead at those print speeds.

If Creality would think through their products more thoroughly they would implement an option in the firmware where the printer reduces speeds and shaking when a spool is mounted on top! I mean it's good to have the option, but *Creality's job would be to test it and explain to the user what could happen* with all the flex ... especially when the spool gets smaller and the weight differs (so compensation would be off, too). It's should be easy to *give the user the choice of printing the right holder* by himself. Also showing a 3rd option in the manual with spool dryer beside the machine (so that no weight is mounted to the printer) would also be a compelling setup for many. A simple question in the printer setup or options menu on how the spool is mounted should be easy to code these days ... But Creality does Creality things ... or in this case: doesn't do those things, sadly.

Sounds like you got a bad machine; apparently quality control isn't their strongest point, so it's kind of a toss of the dice what you'll get (and while it seems like they've been trying to improve that lately, it unfortunately doesn't appear to be all there yet..). I don't blame you for not wanting to get another one, but at the same time not all of their machines are garbage (though I aldo don't think it's acceptable that so many people have problems with theirs)

Something tells me that design is going to have lots of issues and problems with overall reliability of the design. Seeing as its critical on belt tensions and knowing how Creality (short for Crap in Reality) are with their lack of quality control and cost cutting, it'll be interesting to see how these hold up to use after 6 months or so. Print quality and speed doesn't seem anything special for the price of the machine.

Just got my Ender-3 V3 and I hate the location of the spool holder, too. So I moved the two mounting posts up to the two holes at the top of the printer and it clipped right on. Can't use the spiffy kickstand with it mounted on top, but I didn't have to print one and it seems to work just fine, even using the runout sensor. The filament does get into the wires, so I may run a reverse bowden tube to provide some guidance for it, or I may just bypass the runout sensor and run it directly into the top of the extruder.

Oh no! Yet another Ender 3 (v3) printer after the Ender 3v3 SE and Ender 3v3 KE... *Too bad Creality doesn't get it that sometimes less IS more!* Instead of 3, 5 or 7 new Ender printers *there should be only one "new" Ender 3 with noticeably better features than the predecessor v2 and a compelling price!* Instead Creality confuses their own potentially customers again with too much half backed options! Creality, please bring less printers but invest that development time more into the user experience, details and the support of existing machines! Sovol brought the SV07 out a while ago and the reviews were just fine! So if I would want a fast open printer for below 300 bucks with that build volume: I'd buy the Sovol SV07 instead. It has better cooling, is easier to maintain and seemed to be more polished out of the box. The Bambu A1 could also be an option ... but I don't like their closed firmware and there are some tests revealing privacy issues. Bambu Lab is collecting a whole lot data ... too much for my taste. But since there is a better option available from Creality itself: I'd look out for the next sale and the revised K1 (since the release) for around 400 - 430 bucks. It has better cooling, looks better, I can integrate some filters like the Nevermore or Bento-Box and eventually step up my understanding of software and firmware by diving deeper into Klipper. The only thing Chuck could also do a video about is: silencing those "speed" printers! ;o) I gladly would take the option of printing a good deal slower again if the noise level also can be reduced with maybe some fan upgrades and some software tweaks. Sometimes it's simply for me not necessary to use all the speed. So a quiet printer setting for working silently in the background would a nice option.

Creality clones the Voron Switchwire. Guess that's their answer to everyone who has spent nearly double their price on the Ender 3 V3 to build a Voron Switchwire out of a Ender 3 Pro. Which is what I'm currently doing! The Voron switchwire doesn't have a force gauge sensor on the bed for auto leveling, the Voron TAP is the closest gizmo to that, but it won't work on bedslingers. I haven't finished my "Enderwire" yet, I hope it prints well. If you dry your PLA or PETG well, you won't get stringing! At least that's what works for me. Don't move that gantry by hand so fast, if Creality hasn't protected their electronics board with diodes, you will blow out the driver chips from the back EMF generated by the motors! I guess they moved the spool holder downstairs because this printer is FAST and the spool holder on top will vibrate a lot which will be transmitted to the printer frame which could cause artifacts in the prints. I bet they moved the spool holder at the last minute after beta testing the printer! You must have gotten a "lemon" to try out, I've seen a few other KZbin reviews on this printer, and the results were better. BTW, I've printed many ABS parts for my conversion on an Ender 3 Pro, and had no problems. I did stick the printer in a closet, and surrounded it in a cardboard box to make a DIY enclosure, using a towel as an insulator. This kept the heat in. Also put the parts in the very center of the bed when slicing. Micro Centers house brand of ABS worked fine, some no name Chinese ABS was crap.

"any competition for the Bambu A1" .... well at least not for the price so close to that K1 when it's on sale! If Creality had put more thought in it they would offer it with a better price from the beginning instead of lowering it eventually with sales and stuff. But it's kinda their game they play. I mean: the Sovol SV07 is already cheaper. And it actually is a good working bedslinger with Klipper. And it's also not really a competition for someone wanting a well thought of printer out of the box. There were too many details shown in the video that an older Prusa Mini could do better. (maintenance, printing PETG or TPU out of the box, print quality) I'd still not consider Bambu Lab because of their closed firmware and their bad privacy policy. But not all users care as much about their data so it may not be a problem for everyone.

Beware of Creality 3D printers for professional use! These machines might be marketed as universally beginner-friendly, but professionals may find them underwhelming and unreliable. Creality printers prioritize affordability over versatility. Their focus on PLA filament limits their application in professional settings that require sturdier materials. Don't let curiosity empty your wallet! Many professional users who opted for Creality printers have ended up returning to traditional methods like CNC routing or injection molding. Consider these alternatives for serious projects if you don't have a bang for the buck.

I received mine a few days ago and the firmware on it is terrible. It won't allow you to adjust the Z offset unless it's printing, and then resets once done. You also can't manually set the speed while printing, it only gives you predefined settings. You manually can set the temp though. It makes no sense. I just hope they update it soon.

Beware of Creality 3D printers for professional use. These machines might be marketed as universally beginner-friendly, but professionals may find them underwhelming and unreliable. Creality printers prioritize affordability over versatility, not balance between two. Their focus on PLA filament, which limits their application in professional settings that require sturdier materials. Don't let curiosity empty your wallet! Many professional users who opted for Creality printers have ended up returning to traditional methods like CNC routing or injection molding. Consider these alternatives for serious projects if you don't have a bang for the buck.

There is only 2 printers that matters : Ender 3 and Bambu Lab A1 Mini AMS. Believe me, Other models are just waste of money. You can modify the ender 3 and can easly beat any ander 3 v3 se, ke etc etc. The A1 mini is for super speed and multi colour

You should definitely get the K1 in this scenario. Well, if you have the spare money you'd be better off with the K1 as it is. An enclosed printer is just always useful for printing more options, and CoreXY where the bed doesn't get slung around is still a better design. Bedslingers, even of this design, compete more on price than quality. A valid virtue on its own certainly, as the printer you can afford is better than the one you can't. But I'd take an enclosed CoreXY over a bedslinger any day.

Probably not. KE is just a klipper version of SE and not much faster. I was expecting more from the KE.

Bummer! It's definitely a step up from the SE, and the funny thing is, I thought the base V3 would be slower, but it seems the KE is like a mid trim between the base SE and the V3 itself.

Soooo, basically semi crappy clones of Bambu's P1S and A1. I have the P1S and I love it, no issues. Every Creality printer I have I will be tinkering and spending money on it. Now the only time I use a Creality is if the Bambu printer bed is too small for the project I am printing.

That not the whole picture anymore. That K1 is doing fine so far, especially the revised versions after the first reviews. Sadly Creality let's the early customer do the job of polishing a product. And also Sovol printers seem to works quite well out of the box. The slower SV06 and and Klipper version SV07. So it is possible for other companies to build ready-to-print machines. But it's still a hit and miss.
