I was really hoping Before the Storm somehow hinted at Rachel and Frank being together, as well as Rachel at least interacting with Mr. Jefferson, but this game seemed to take place before all that. It was good but honestly I think there should have been one more episode to fit all that stuff in. In my opinion in episodes 1 and 2 there were some boring and unnecessary scenes (like when chloe cleaned out her locker, for instance) that could have been replaced with some of this foreshadowing. The addition of new characters was cool but honestly added close to nothing to the story in the long run.

Good to know that you DON'T NEED the bracelet to get the Bonus Mother Daughter Reunion scene!! (Makes me all giddy inside xD) So it all just depends on the conversation choices you make with Sera? Will you still be able to get the bonus mom scene if you read the letters Sera wrote to Rachel in her dad's office and mention it to her before she leaves? Or do you still have to make those specific choices in order to get that scene? Love how they made this the hardest scene to get, which only proves, in my head canon, that this is the TRUE Ending!

But when you meet Frank and Damon in the junk yard Frank gives Rachel a look as though he's attracted to her, she seems to acknowledge it, and when Chloe looks at Rachel she glances away. They probably et each other again in the future and then got together.

I didn't finish the stream yet but I don't feel bad watching this since it's a prequel. The story was done well enough, maybe too well because it somehow makes the main story and Max's character less interesting because max herself wasn't all that original or interesting.

I think the story was lukewarm and poorly paced and they didn't understand the emotional crescendo that made Fire Walk With Me work despite even putting a nod in the ending to its influence. Ep 1 -3 should've been condensed to two episodes, the relationship aspect should be more focused and passionate to set up a emotional downfall for the audience when in Ep 3 we see Rachel go downhill as she sleeps with other people, gets more into drugs culminating in her death. Then you have an arc that does justice to the relationship while also adding a compelling story. It's like they got sidetracked from the point of the DLC and focused on subplots.

BTS has identity because D9 did their own thing and added to the series. Your ideas do not add anything, it rehashes what is already known. That's not compelling.

If you listen to a conversation between Samatha's mother and Nathan's father in the hospital, Samantha's mom will mention Nathan breaking Sam's ribs, but Nathan's dad will say that Nathan was only protecting himself from "unwanted advances". That's why Samantha wants nothing to do with Nathan in this ending.

I thought it happened when you lied to Rachel, so I was extra glad I told the truth, but then I saw that it happened no matter what. So, I've decided I did all the right choices and created a time paradox where Chloe and Rachel run off to New York and that the first game never happened because of my choices.

_So basically, what a bunch of crap_ Before I launch into my diatribe on the game, thank you to MBH for playing thru this & showing us those extra scenes & endings! You did a great job playing the game! The writers in this part were even worse than in the original. I guess There's no Good Father But a Dead Father is the whole point of both games - father or father-figure. I have never seen a more putrid ending & nonsensical character development. James, the Demon Father, wanted his ex-wife "taken out" which merely meant ending her drug sobriety, not killing her, as she's walking around ducky after being shot up by the Demon DrugLord Damon. And the truth of this destroys Rachel to the extent that she gets palsy-walsy with Frank & Jefferson & meets her end presumably. Nothing of the 17 years of a stable family, Princess upbringing, goody-two shoes in school grades & popularity helped stave that bad ending off for her. Right, sure. Even when she meets her birth mother & "hugs it out" with Sera & her new love Unicorn-Haired Chloe, she still fools around with Jefferson. And with the ending of Rachel never knowing, what then is the excuse for her downfall? Absolutely none. Talking about excuses - what is the final excuse for Chloe to become such a loser? Dealing pot as well as smoking it, doing poorly in school, being a louse to her own mother? Losing a father? Her bestie moving away? Boo-hoo honey. Some people have no one. You had a loving mother, you were smart, you had friends in school. You just decided to be overly-angsty. All the hella in the original is like Shakespeare compared to this really weak effort.

+Dol_ I appreciate your feeling & you liking these characters. I know this game & the previous LiS had many, many fans. I wasn't one of them, but again I greatly respect your feelings about the game. Chloe had no dimension added to her imo. She is just younger, more angsty without much reason. Before Rachel, she was really rotten to her mother, going off to the "rave" in that warehouse, not batting an eye about stealing a shirt, already doing deals with Frank. So basically, losing her father & a friend who didn't return texts was the end of her life & pushed her into being a bad girl? That's all it takes? I'm not saying that losing a father isn't hard, sad, traumatic. But in perspective, there are teenagers who grew up as orphans in war-torn countries, starving, being abused by enemy soldiers, seeing their families blown up in front of their eyes. And then there's Chloe who is emotionally bereft from not having her friend return her texts. She was shown to be very one-dimensionally immature. One would think that the community would be supportive of her mother & her, since they were known because of the diner. But there is no realism in this game. Just drama for the sake of drama. Her relationship with Rachel was one of the meek weak being led along by someone strong & willful. And Rachel? Besides being manipulative & an excellent actress to turn things around to her way (especially in part 1), & without any proof of father's wrong-doing, was already skipping school & acting delinquent, not appreciating the life she had - including comfortable home, loving parents, numerous friends, popularity, etc. A stereotype of a bad girl rich kid. Any depth to Chloe & Rachel's actual love story was never explored, just a couple of sloppy kisses & hugs & the derpy punching each other on the shoulder as tho they were 12. We were given no clue as to why Rachel, who "liked" Chloe, would wind up being lovey-dovey with Frank & screwing around with nude pics & more for good ol' Jefferson. But I guess no one in this universe has any inner fortitude or values to buck them up in times of trouble, so they crumble like stale cookies. I really don't feel for her at all.

NaturalFlirtGamer I think of it more in context, sure Chloe losing her father isn’t as horrible to orphans in war-torn countries. But when you put in her town and how everybody else is living with their families, it is kind of difficult to deal with, especially for a depressed teenager like her. It can really damages you for life when you lose one of your parents, so I kind of relate to how Chloe feels. I like to think that this prequel wants to show how Chloe couldn’t express her emotions and was guilted for them (everyone saying how she should be grateful or grow up etc) but finally found a person she can relate to (Rachel) who when left in the original game made Chloe reverts back to her old, angry and depressed self. I can also see why Rachel went to that path, I mean, her whole life is basically a lie and she isn’t sure if her family even loves or pretending. She feels emotionally insecure and wants everyone’s love and attention to compensate, which backfired. I don’t doubt her love for Chloe, but I understand why she might want to mess with other people for love and attention. Both of these girls are still teenagers, and I think the writers captured the teenager mentality very well. Of course they wouldn’t think in a levelheaded manner like us the players who are mostly adults. Don’t forget also the situation they both are in, sure you would say it isn’t the most horrible thing, but you never experienced like them. I kind of get defensive for these girls because I went through a similar situation at the same age, the scars still hurts even when I’m adult and been through it already.

It was a good story, but honestly barely much happened at all. All we get is a pairing and nothing more. In addition, barely anything happened with Nathan and Victoria, they just become scumbags because reasons. Eliot was also a really dumb filler character converted into a stalker. He didn't do anything to further the plot, all he did was serve as an obstacle and unnecessarily stretched the episode lengths. Before the Storm is by no means bad, but there's no depth to it.

NaturalFlirtGirl, the issue is a lack of any interesting character growth and conflict. Chloe in the original goes from a selfish person to a selfless one. In Before the Storm we're stuck with Chloe 1 and Chloe 2, they're too much alike, and missing the counterbalance of a Max character to question and argue the decisions of Chloe. Max was the main character, an audience surrogate who's given a believable reason why she would be close yet estranged to her old best friend. Chloe's not given much depth in Before the Storm and isn't a very convincing audience surrogate [Grafting Max's arty journal writing and "tagging/taking pictures" onto Chloe makes zero sense]. The entire game expects us to fawn over Rachel, who's shown as a nastier version of Chloe. That's not compelling or interesting, and speaks volumes of the writers' inability to understand what makes for a likable character[s]. To make matters worse, many of the truly likable characters from the original game are now two dimensional at best, and most of the newer characters could be confused for pieces of plywood.

I'm sorry but first ending all the way! That to me is reality! Doesn't matter if you're 16! I found out more fucked up shit when I was 8 years old! Everyone deserves the truth! In my opinion...........the only time the truth should be hidden.......................for any peculiar circumstance....................is to save lives. Just give that a thought for a moment................but otherwise everyone deserves the truth. Because if you think about it...........Rachel would find out eventually, because she would never relent on the desire to meet her mother. I know from the story Jefferson eventually gets ahold of her but that's besides the point. If Rachel's situation was exact for anyone else in real life..........they would eventually find out. And the hatred for their father would be much worse than if the truth was told then and there in the moment. Just my two cents.

The writing really is so ABYSMALLY awful in this. So, the mother wants to see the daughter. The loving doting father suddenly wants to murder the mother AFTER the daughter already knows he lied to her... and now that the daughter WANTS to see the mother who's desperately been trying to meet her daughter, the mother SUDDENLY for no reason at all, decides it's a bad idea. She ALSO decides that it's important SUPER important, that her daughter doesn't find out that her father is an evil murderous scumbag, so that she can preserve the beautiful IDEA of him. Yeah guys. Let's not throw serial killer Dennis Rader in prison, because it would wrong, so very very wrong for a zoomer kid to have to deal with the horrible feeling of reality and taking it for what it is. Seriously, is that even a choice? No, you tell her the truth, because criminals should go to jail, and that's a VALID reason to stop loving someone.
