GPS is never fraud my guy 😂 All our phones have GPS and don't confuse that with location toggle on screen, that is only for your convenience & google. The GPS is always ON and connects directly to satellite even though you don't have network on mobile, as long as the phone is switching on your GPS is on. It doesn't require mobile data to work.

This is an absolutely splendid initiative. The Indian government should collect tolls with GPS information and monitor cars for speeding. Speeding cars should be charged more based on how long they are speeding and how much they are over the speed limit. This will make the Indian highways a lot safer to drive. If this system is launched, it will be the first one in the world. India can sell this system to other countries. Just like UPI, the Highway Toll System (HPS) will be successful.

If we are at fault we have to pay double but if problem is from other side they don't compensate. GPS system l won't stop you and -ve balance will pile up quickly laying additional burden on already overtaxed citizens. This is big issue for commuters in UK as well where they use GPS toll

Don't understand one side it says GPS and other side it says your number plate pic is taken by camera, when camera is there, then GPS doesn't come into picture at all. In GPS system and receiver will be installed in the car whose coordinates can be used to get the distance travelled.

With increasing toll taxes and increasing excise duty on fuel india is going to become a country with high input cost on farming, transportation and manufacturing. Increasing Toll tax and Excise duty on fuel is going became a major factor in the inflation. Increase of toll tax and excise duty is going to increase in transportation cost of good per ton per km. Increase excise duty on fuel is also going to increase in the input cost of farm machinery used for farming. Fuel cost per acre of land is going to increase.

It is a Toll Tag-based system wherein either vehicle has to place the tag on their windshields which will have an online account to renew the money used for toll or your number plates will be read by scanners and a toll receipt would be sent to the registered address for the plate. Would be interesting to see how India will make it function, especially for plates/people who will ignore the toll receipts. Not sure if every number plate owner has the correct address updated to the RTO office to link the scanner with the RTO information. Kuddo's if it works will help to eliminate the non-toll payers.

This has nothing to do with GPS, its a camera based system for road Toll rather than fast tag (far efficient technique, but has its pitfalls). If you adopt satellite/GPS based system then each vehicle will need to have a inbuilt unit which is not possible and if at all there will be a unit installed on a vehicle it should be working condition.

Don’t think FASTag has reduced time by almost 90% as mentioned (12 mins to 47 secs). The process of stopping the car, manning the toll booth, ensuring collection from each vehicle by stop-start method are very much in existent similar to earlier days of cash collection. Only thing replaced is instead of cash and waiting for change etc, money is deducted electronically so probably time has reduced by half but no way by 90%. The biggest advantage of fastag is reduction in corruption as money gets deposited directly in BOT accounts so it can be easily be accounted for.

I have noticed people who refuse to pay tolls, argue and show ID cards are allowed to pass through free once 10 to 15 cars pile up behind them. Gadkari ji what happened to stopping toll collection after recovering the amount for maintenance of highways? So with this new idea it is permanent toll collection. There is nothing innovative with using GPS. We still have old cars or trucks who don't have GPS. How will you handle them? Even in America they don't have GPS based toll collection. Faster RFID readers than what we have are used. Using Indian GAGAN is not precise in identifying loction. Improvement of quality of highways and educating truck drivers to follow lanes principle (most long trucks are on right lane) should be high priorities. We have 98% Fastag compliance in current model.
