Endless Engines | Tron Bike CG Animation

This is my submission for Pwnisher's Endless Engines challenge! It has been fun to be a part of the community and see everyone's projects, and I can't wait to see the end results.

There was actually a minigame in GTA online called Deadline where you used the Tron bikes to eliminate other players, it was definitely as fun as the movie made it look

That’s awesome. How did you replace the truck with your own bike? Man, I’m getting so frustrated by blender. 2D is so much easier to make things for beginners.

I get it, there's definitely a steep learning curve. I just parented my bike to the truck and made the truck invisible in the viewport and in renders. Click your vehicle and shift+click the truck, then hit ctrl + p and select "object (keep transform)". That will parent it to the truck. To make the truck invisible, go up to the top right of the outliner panel and under filters, click the camera icon (this will allow you to disable objects in renders). Now you should see an eye icon and a camera icon next to the truck in the outliner panel. Disable both of them to make it invisible in the viewport and in renders. If I didn't explain this well, just google how to parent objects and how to disable objects from rendering. Hope this helps!

Amazing detail. Only complaint is the vehicle curve/gravity. It goes down slower than it comes up and feels a bit floaty. Doesn't have a weighty thud to it like I would expect. Still love the style though!

It's a particle emitter attached to the back of the bike, and it's instancing an emissive plane I made. I had to mess around with the particle settings a lot so they shoot out in a straight line more or less.

@@Ponlets You should! I decided to go with particles. The other way I thought about doing it was animating the bike and then creating the trail as a piece of geometry that somehow gets revealed as the bike drives. But there are pros and cons to both.

Don't worry about that - I've seen some other Tron shots in the Discord and at least one that is fairly similar to mine. So just do what you want!

This looks awesome! I love the animation it's very fluid and natural! My only comment is the crowd just looks like a bunch of noise or jittering polygons rather then a crowd. Also I feel like the background could use some more population with assets. Otherwise, it looks great!

Thank-you! The trail is just a particle system coming off the bike. It's instancing a flat 2D plane with an emissive material. I had to scale the emitter down in the Z axis and turn off some physics settings to get the particles to fire in a straight line like that.

as you said in a reply you parented your bike with the car .but for me i m using a car and i was thinking about to add some drift and in using rigacar addon and for that to work i need a follow path constraint which a empty is not. if you can help me with this i would be soo glad thankyou in advance 🛐🛐.also im a beginner

I also had the same idea... Even the bike the other bike crashing... I've been struggling to create the Trails, I did by using Particle System, the alternatives was to use Mesh with Armature or a paid Addon.

Excellent but if I were you I'd spend more time trying to simulate the weight of the bike. It feels stiff.
