Dude those skiffs are fine, i have fished on the legend and have witnessed you anchor right on private boat that was hooked up before. it works both ways. just because you dont know alot of private boaters doesnt mean they cant slide in if they are not being stupid about it

Anchor fishing is completely different and if you don’t understand that you won’t understand the problems of boats that don’t look for their own fish and strictly follow other boats.

Yeah, but it's okay for the other Sportie to fish next to you. They don't have to find there own fish. I've have sport boats pull up right next to me when I'm on a wide-open yellowfin on a paddy. And they shut the bite down.

Sport boats do not pull up on other sport boats unless they are called in. I am sorry to hear about a sportboat pulling in and shutting off your bite, personally i would not just pull in on a boat like that. I may try to contact you over the radio if it looked like you were near reaching your limit. Many times a skiff can set up near a sport boat, pull a few fish and not mess it up but it is all too common that skiffs race through chum lines, drive over fish, snag our lines and shut off bites which frustrates a lot of captains in the fleet. There are some great skiff captains out there that constantly locate their own fish, same with sport boat captains, but there are far too many guys who just follow boats and have no etiquette on the water driving skiffs right now.

Thanks for your reply! Very stand up with you. I definitely agree with you it is much less of an occurrence for a sport boat to slide in on a private boat versus the other way around. In your video though it look like the private boats were not completely on top of you. I've seen much worse. It is a fact that you will do better if you find your own fish rather than fishing for boats. I would say the majority of private boaters fish for other boats rather than finding their own school of fish. I have had offshore run ins with sportboats and also run ins at the Coronado Islands with sport boats that have encroached on me. But again I realize it's a lopsided scenario. Tight Lines

I agree the private boaters get excessive and definitely can ruin a bite for sport boats but it also works both ways it may not be as common but I’ve definitely had sportboats slide in on us and start fishing the paddy/fish we found plenty of times with no contact over the radio or anything… so imo if those boat’s didn’t shut the bite down they didn’t really do anything another sportboat wouldn’t do 🤷🏻‍♂️ but I’m a big advocate of finding ur own fish its way more rewarding

You are so correct at least in this video they are quite a distance away. A few weeks back we had boats follow us day and night constantly coming really close(20 feet from us) and into our chum( those are the captains that dont know how to navigate, read their equipment nor fish so they chase party boats). they should have their license taken away. People, the head/party boats dont need you rich charter boats taken money from them, they are limited then you are to where they can go, chasing fish etc so do right by them and stay away. we almost drifted right into a small boat that decided to our chum and placed ballooned live bait out, needless to say we all had a good show when our cap gunned it. we need to get the name of those boats a put them in the boat of shame in the fishing magazines.

Just got back from an overnight and it drives me crazy when guys stay planted with their lines out at a 45 degree angle. Some guys are even hesitant to let you go under them. Lost fish partly because of it.

That’s why you need to start fishing 2 & 3 day limited load trips. The fishermen tend to be more experienced than the overnight crowd.

How much is a trip for a 2.5 day or a over night. $2000 a day Or is it $ if you have to ask you can't afford it ?

A 2.5 is about $900 per passenger right now

It’s hard to say, last year was a down year for yellows & the year before was really good. We’ll just have to see how it shakes out, but I’d guess July/august.

It's the only way to get fish from US waters is catch it yourself They export the fish we pay $ billions in taxes for research and protect, and 90% is Exported to Asia .In turn the United States imports freshwater farm raised Tilapia that eat mosquito larvae. Or farmed freshwater Tiger shrimp.
