While the in line setbup of the hook seems like the best way to get down deep fast do you think its worth it Vs. the trailing 3-4' leader? I ask because Ive heard it doesnt present as naturally (the dropshot style) as the trailing leader does. What do you prefer? Do you think it makes that much of a difference? Thx. Appreciated.

Any idea how to tell if you have a through wire sinker? Thank you
@FishTheLegend
@FishTheLegend 27 күн бұрын
@@michaelbruno1486 really the only way is if they are sold or advertised as “through wire.” If it’s not specified, I would assume they are not. It’s more expensive to produce & generally not needed unless it’s this specific set up. That being said, you can always rig up a line in between the top & bottom tackle points so even if the sinker breaks away, you’ll still have your hooks and line on the connection to your top shot.

Just bought the okuma tesoro 10 for iron casting. Spooled it w 50 lb test FINS 40G line (actual break strength 65 lb). Paired it w a 9 ft United Composite 30-60 lb rod. Can I use this set up or should I find a new lighter rod? Also I have a 14k stella with 65 lb test but probably way too big - your input pls on that & last - how long is your fluoro bite ldr? Gold label?Thx very much.
@FishTheLegend
@FishTheLegend Ай бұрын
@@koogle612 In our opinion the Tesoro 10 is a little small for casting irons. A bigger spool and about 100 yards of mono will cast better and fish a jig better.

I added a gimbal tip to each one of my rods which allowed me to use a gimbal rod belt which makes fighting a large fish a lot easier. The two greatest feelings are when a large fish takes the bait and then when it is gaffed.

Can you use a Sinker rig on a night bites?
@FishTheLegend
@FishTheLegend 3 ай бұрын
You can, but typically jigs are going to have the advantage because they can get down to the zone faster. If the school doesn't stick to the boat, it's oftentimes the first people down to the right depth that get bit. Sinker rigs will get twisted if you drop it too fast, whereas that's what night time jigs are made for.

Thank you for your response. I should have been more suspect. I was thinking about the drop shot rig.with a 16 to 20 oz sinker ? after Catching my personal best 125. Bluefin, I was one and done I had no idea they were so tough and reeling up-and-down so many time!! so I was in the gallery thinking I wonder if I could use a drop shot sinker rig 20 oz to get straight down. And I would still have the strength to fish LOL, LOL wasn't sure, so I didn't do it. That's why I'm asking now. Because I was wondering if it was straight down but I didn't wantt to get in other people's way. I'll be in shape next time. You fishermen down,There are tougher than 10 fishermen!!! .Thanks , and great fishing to you.I hope to fish with you one day...soon Great fishing to you all

We go over 4 different sinker rig set ups in this video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn-2iWRveqiDirs For fishing sinker rigs, you basically lower into the zone and let the sardine swim as naturally as it can around that area.
