Eddy works great for me. The eddy tip is gentle to the canal wall, also in curved canals. It doesnt separate easily but if it does, it is easy to remove. Just continue rinsing or if it is stuck place a hedstrom file in it. Its efficacy is supported by research now too. I expected good results because of the literature on manually activated disinfection. (Moving a guttapercha point up and down) but eddy brings much more energy to the fluids. Love it with edta in narrow canals during preparation too and also with a solvent during retreatment.

Yes, the Eddy is great, so great that Dentsply Sirona will be launching the new Endoactivator, which basically is a cordless Eddy🤣. Funny that Ruddle always said the Endoactivator is better, but now on the release for the new version, he admitted that it was not good enough 😅

@@Dentaldynamo VDW has developed the EDDY tip, but for some strange reasons did not file patent protection for India. Some clever businessmen copied the EDDY tip and named it PATS and selling them internationally, having had some legal confrontation by VDW lawyers for that. So YES and No: I have not actually used the PATS , but at the end, I basically have 😅 with the Eddy.

When is the comparison with the SWEEPS coming? Would love to see it matched up against Biolase.

I am a regular dentist, not a testing facility. There are studies indicating no improvement on PIPS with SWEEP, but also studies showing PIPS is of no use at all...

@@gregors.5734 I really hurt your feelings with that comment!? I apologize. I would love for you to share a link of a scientific study which indicates that LAI from Fotona is of no use at all. If not, I will settle with your distasteful sour reply. Have a great day!

@@prebb Not sure which part of my comment indicated hurt feelings or was distasteful, I just wanted to pointed out that I have no access to the SWEEPS unfortunately. (Maybe my answer was to short, but I am pretty exhausted after having had a 14h shift yesterday, 3h sleep and 9h work again, so please excuse if I am not able to elaborate as I used to do on a regular basis ). I would love to add SWEEP to the comparison, but all my attempts have been turned down by the companies. Regarding the " no use" of LAI in endodontics: that was meta analysis done by a colleague, he talked about the results on a big endodontic meeting with the kind words " anyone here owning a PIPS Laser, which costs 60.000€?". ( some colleagues raised there hands). " Unfortunately I give you 60.000 reasons in about 10 minutes to not like it anymore..." He showed no improvement in cleaning, healing, sealing , you name it. But let me tell you something: I feel much more confident in the cleaning using EDDY and PIPS in my daily cases, and I would not part with my PIPS! Cheers and stay healthy!

@gregors.57343 жыл бұрын
Why would you need this to be? The tips just transfer energy from the powering device. You can with some DIY skills attached the tips vice versa 😉, but there is no benefit for attaching EDDY tips to the Endoactivator. By the way: the new upcoming Dentsply Smartlite Endoactivator is much more powerful, on paper it looks kind of like a cordless Eddy.

Sorry to say, but ur video doesn’t demonstrate any valuable information. 1.- the model is not appropriate 2.- To allow sonic and US tip vibrate freely without any interferences (direct contact with root canal walls) invalidate your methodology 3.- That is not the right way to use and hold PIPS tip.
@gregors.57349 ай бұрын
David, look how old this video is- and it's still being clicked, even by you. Why is that? Lack of alternatives on KZbin I assume.KZbin deleted my first uploads which included more detailed explaining subtitles, and when reuploading, I simply did not wanted to put any more effort into it, people DID NOT READ THOSE SUBTITLES in the first place. Do you know why I did not put any more effort for clarification into those videos? Our partner in crime Oscar von Stetten used/uses this/my videos for a prime example of HOW IT SHOULD NOT BE DONE. Can you imagine the humiliation- for him - when I found out? Just kidding, Oscar has a special place in our heart, doesn't he? The best part is that I do not care, as this video was supposed to be the starting point of a series with changing conditions ( as explained in the subtitles), but since I was instantly bombarded with not practical criticism ( for example I was never shown a fitting bench test), I just let it roll. Before this setup I even asked Gentlewave for a way to test the system, but nobody even cared to answer my emails. Regarding PIPS: what is the roght way to hold and use it? Just trying to keep up with the constant changes leaves me clueless 😅...When I even remember correctly from one of the last endodontic Congresses, PIPS was claimed to be a " useless 60.000 bucks expensive toy". I like it and love to use it, and even though literature has or will find it of no use in the future, I prefer to have it at hand together with my Eddy, Gentlewave never made it to Germany for a reason I assume 😉
