I just kinda wish we had more lore and heard more from Cynte. Honestly, slowly learning about who Cynte really is aka learning that he’s actually a bit of a jerk and what happened before the events of the first game is what hooked me into Endoparasitic. Hopefully if there is a Part 3, the dev(s?) could learn from this and probably not drag it too long. And if it would be another long game, at least make some variation or give us some lore to munch on. I don’t think this one is bad but compared to the first game it feels boring and a downgrade.
@colonelsouffle304225 күн бұрын
I went back to your playthrough of the original Endoparasitic and one thing I noticed is that the infected rats and the limb enemies from the second game fill the same role as a weak but agile attacker, but unlike the limbs the rats had not only a visual cue (indicated by an exclamation mark over Cynte) but also a sound cue that they were around, whereas with the limbs they just kind of surprise you and get cheap shots off of you because you didn't know they were around the corner or something. Respawning enemies in a game where ammo is hard limited is also very questionable. As much as the second game had a lot of interesting mechanics like the stun gun, I do think it kind of lacked the charm and thoughtful design that the first game did. Even the boss fight was a lot more simplistic than the one in the first game.
@Faniwa82823 күн бұрын

To note, the limbs make a slapping sound. You can (usually) hear them slapping about before you can see them. As for the cheap shots, it ~seems~ like they only really get cheap AFTER you get the scanner/stun gun. As for the exclamation mark, that being reserved exclusively for invisible enemies is the right call imo. Don't want to prime the player for limbs when it's an invisible thing and vice-versa.

While I do agree the game is perhaps a bit too long, I really liked this. We get a lot of Manly showing off his skills and item management, and I just really dig this concept. Cynte remains an awful person, but he has been fleshed out now and that depth does make him more interesting. I genuinely want to see him somehow repair himself, I want to see him successfully literally drag himself out of this nightmare. Here's hoping the third game, if and when it comes, is a strong balance of the first two games.

When I saw the elevator and there were 30 floors I didn't believe you'd have to go to all of them. This has the same tight mechanical design as the first game but it's so stretched. You see really awkward hydra encounters where you can't hit it and parts where enemies get suck between couches and that just wouldn't have slipped by in a shorter game
@某個宅男25 күн бұрын
My though. 1. The sequel is long and bland, the enviroment is big but empty (by that I mean it's not visually engaging or interactive enough gameplay wise). Although sequel is certanly prettier, first game really gives us the sense of dread and clusterphobic, while sequel is "Oh great, more rooms." It can really trimed down a little, or even cut it in half if we are being really harsh. 2. The story line kinda failed me. Cynte and Luce landed on the ship, Cynte blasted the whole infected ship and Luce, that's pretty much it. We do know about the cult, Karis, and a few crew members trying to survive, but those got just a little build-up or explanation, if at all. I would at least love to hear how the ship hit the fan from Karis.(btw, you remember the walkie-talkie Karis gave?) 3. The pacing of sequel is pretty much all the same throughout the whole game. In the first one, you also have moments where you have to run for it (crawl for it?), and moments you are going real slow so you don't startle anything. Here you kinda just stroll through everything with no dynamic change. 4. Some development intents don't translate well. You can go to developer's channel to have a good look, but the two points I currently have are: -Developer sort of makes the elevator the moving base for us, but as you can see in Manly's video, he doesn't really give elevator second though, so it's likely that players who didn't watch development videos wouldn't pick up on that. -Biosenser is a good concept, but the enemies it mainly deals with are somewhat convoluted (invisible monster is weirdly the tankiest, and Hydra takes too many steps to kill), and still require other weapons to take out, making it shine not as much as crossbow and flare gun from the first game. That's pretty much it, thanks for reading all these rambling.
@TuriGamer19 күн бұрын
What do you mean moving base? Does it carry items? Theres absolutely nothing in the game to communicate that Should have added some trash lying in the corner to show it or just add a box
@某個宅男19 күн бұрын
@@TuriGamer Basically, you drop items in the elevator and they go wherever you go so you don't really have to double-back to previous floors. And yes, the game itself doesn't tell you that unless you watched developer's video.

The game should be like 40% shorter. all crafts and enemies exept the hydra appeared quite early so a big chunk of the game felt very repetitive and happened in the same decorations. I actually started scrolling the video searching for notes and dialogues which i don't often do. It seems the game ended on another cliffhanger (idk about this one the main bad guy is dead what are you going to do) so i really hope the developer will learn something from this
@noahthecrazy163225 күн бұрын
I agree, but the main developer did not design levels much this time, seen he doesn’t like doing it and can now afford to hire another person to do the bulk of level design. So maybe he can ‘update’ the game maybe and either do quick fixes to some level, or just wait around next time and make new enemies and spread them out more efficiently.

Especially with the upgrades, it felt like a worthy addition to make up for the crossbow. I personally think it’s more congruent with this storyline seeing as they’re on a luxury cruiser, so a crossbow wouldn’t allowed for passengers and the guards would have guns. Maybe that’s just me

@@linwong1494 I just find the Mechanic less rewarding - is it a clever throwback to Alien with the radar gun? Sure, but to me it doesn't make up for the fact you're still just using the pistol and shotgun for 90% of the game otherwise.

I certainly missed the crossbow and flare gun here. Certainly was situations for both, and not to mention probably would've helped with the feelings of stagnation. Hey, maybe having to make a choice between what weapons you wanted to take with you could've been a mechanic. Crossbow or Stun Gun? Flare or Pistol? All depending on your playstyle... Would've been nice if each 'set' of floors did more to visually distinguish themselves as well, most of the game felt like the same posh-looking rooms. The story still has me hooked and wanting to know what happens next, but the amount of pause between hearing anything from Cynte feels painfully drawn out. Hearing that this playthrough unedited was 11 hours sounds even more agonizing. Manly's efficiency is immaculate even without use of elevator storage and just dealing with weight on the go, even in the face of having more enemies than you have ammo!

@abelphilips126724 күн бұрын
I think the long length/slog of the game could be fixed if the dev had added two game modes. First is the story mode that's reduced to a third of the current one. Second is an endless mode where you keep progressing through levels with no ability to go back and just see how far you can make it. You can even add in roguelike elements to unlock stuff as you do more runs. That way people who just want a short and sweet experience like the first game can play story mode. People who enjoy the more intense resource management of so many levels would have fun with endless.

Game definitely overstayed it's welcome, the first game had multiple bosses, the level designs actually changed from the lab kinda area to the plant life area, it had more dialogue where initially you thought you were the good guy but as the game progressed you slowly realized that Cynte is more of an anti-hero/villain, in this game Cynte was just complaining and the very small conversations he had with his co-worker were the only pieces of human interaction that made the game not be a complete blur. The weapons were mostly the same as well which were just a pistol and a shotgun and I actually liked the designs of the previous guns more because you actually had to pluck the bullets out of the guns after each use, while in this one it was just more bland and simpler to use weapons which didn't really improve on the immersion of having to manage a gun with just one hand. If you put these two games side by side and asked me which one is the first one and which one is the second game I would 100% believe that the second game is the first one due to how much "less" the game felt that it had compared to the first one. Even though the first game was much smaller in comparison.

I enjoyed this one, though I agree with Manly that this could be a tad shorter or the pacing a bit better. There was a sizeable chunk of game - after the invisible enemy and stun gun were introduced but before the introduction of the hydra and unkillable zombie - where it was just the same enemies and the same weapons against them. A small portion from this segment could have easily been cut out without any detriment to the game as a whole. Alternatively, fill that segment up with more lore and story. Cynte was given a walkie-talkie by Karis but it looks like it was forgotten after a few lines. A bit of a wasted opportunity imo - it would have been nice to hear more dialogue between the two to flesh things out. It didn't help that the environment was kinda repetitive - we are supposed to be on a luxury starship but it just felt like the same old rooms and hallways everywhere. I was expecting to see maybe a pool area or a casino floor or a dining area, but everywhere just looked the same. There was only one area I noticed that had some shower/spa theme with a few bathtubs in the area. Perhaps the game's stylised graphics failed to express the environment somewhat? Lastly, I don't really fancy the game respawning enemies in areas you had already cleared, especially when resources are scarce and you can't always go around enemies due to the level layout. It just feels very cheap. I can see why so many players ended up getting soft-locked. But overall the game is still fun and its core mechanic remains very engaging. I look forward to an Endoparasitic 3, if one is ever made.

That was...kinda boring. Barely any story, only what? 4-5 different enemies? Lackluster ending. I wouldn't say any of the levels are even memorable in any capacity. You're definitely right that it was much too long for what it actually has.

Yeah I ended up skipping forward in the videos quite a few times just looking for when the next story scene occured.

Not just that, but also the fact that there weren't any development design wise (weapons, enemies and mechanics). I really felt this since part 1 but I was kinda tired so also grumpy and I thought it was me, but not today... And the 1st game would've totally made me forget I was grumpy while watching it
@Sammytheflaaffyfan26 күн бұрын
@@roscuro9838 you make a great point here. Like seriously, ONE single variant of the basic enemies. Couldn't have thrown in one or two more? It just got so samey after awhile. And yeah that ending was stupid. Like, yeah the first game's ending was abrupt too, but it was a decently captivating cliffhanger as Synte was left watching helplessly as (Luce I think?) escaped.

I feel like having some extra lore would have helped the game. Like I genuinely looked forward to Manly finding letters or biomass samples because that meant Cynte dialog.
@pcport269821 күн бұрын
@TheRedDoggyDog Agreed, Cynte's scathing commentary was a huge highlight. The game needed to have like half the floors and more Cynte grumbling

_Most efficient player_ 🏆 Total LONG fan girl comment here. Your strategies are just one of the reasons I am such a long-time fan of yours MBH. Same as watching you play every other survival horror game - no wasted shots, no wasted ammo, best decision-making on how to use resources. I kept seeing comments say to "use the elevator" for resources, but it would mean finding things and instead of using them to create ammo or health - you make constant runs to the elevator to "drop them off"?? Kinda senseless to me vs just using what you have efficiently and getting thru a level while picking up all you could. And I also didn't get comments about making more pistol ammo vs shotgun. I'm feeling some people didn't actually play the game(?) and just looked at use of raw materials without reasoning out need for one-shotting some enemies vs looking at what the game was telling you about the level by the resources you got. Like a gazillion pens vs multiple nitro and cellulose. It's *your playthrough,* after all. Bottom line, you have great instincts and strategies for winning. And that's why I happily have watched you for years and will continue to enjoy your voice, great editing, humor, and style. The game could have used 10 less levels and a bit more story drops and convos between Karis and our MC. Glad to see the teaser for possible third game.

something about this game and the last game I'm not seeing talked about a lot is the protagonist... cus ngl Cynte has been one of the most interesting protagonists i've seen in and its mostly because... he not a good guy. as manly said in the last game "he's kind of an anti-villian" he's doing something "good" sure but its not for the right reason. Cynte is cruel and cold, and would sell you out in a heart beat. he's not a hero but that's what makes him so compelling to me. anyway just wanted to say that. can't wait to see what he'll do to "fix" everything

The fact that Manly missed the obvious red wire running under the bed at 37:24 made me roll my eyes SO HARD THAT IT'S... UGH I mean seriously he literally got a secret room by activating a level under a sink identified by a red wire earlier but just... missed that. Otherwise his first part of the game was excellent. Actually felt badass watching him go through the game, yet to judge this part, though

1:21:47 The numbers are inverse of their diagonal counterparts. what I mean is if I had a grid of 4 squares and top left was 43 than bottom right is 34. Because this is 2 wide 8 high grid, Top Left is Bottom Right's counterpart and Mid-Upper Left is Mid-Bottom Right's counterpart. The solution is: 1285

On the table towards the hole, it's written "Jivaan" and "Janm" which mean life and birth. On the other side is written "Mrityu" and "Kaal" as in death and destruction. So life and death, birth and destruction. Honestly both can mean death. As a Hindi speaker, it's really interesting to see your language being depicted in a game.

Manly sais it best. So many sections of the first game, one still remembers. This one, theres only 4. The bossfight at the end, which to be fair, is better than any bossfight in the first game. The cult floor. Cynte's research partner partner. And the egg reciepe note. Cause its the only random life slice note and only one Cynte gives a snarky remark to. But thats it. Previous game, memorable things are: The start where Cynte is ripped appart. Cynte commenting on his coworkers when finding notes, introducing you to the cast. Meeting the doc that made the vaccine and watching the gorilla ripp him appart. The alarm/gorilla section and its bossfight. The vents section with the rats. Meeting Lucy first time. Meeting her later. The corridor you shoot your first flare into. The section where skeletons grab you if your to fast or loud. The teleporting/charger guy section and his bossfight. Lucy's reveal. And the abrupt end. And all through theres at least 1 note with random stuff about the lab or its members every section. And Cynte comments on so many of them. (This game has like... 3-4 random notes and 4-5 audiologs. For 30 floors. And Cynte comments on 1-3 of them. Pathetic)

Endoparasitic is definitely one of those games that started from a strong core gimmick, and built the game from there. The sequel feels like they made a bunch of levels because they had planned to do something with the levels, but then couldn't quite execute the plans as desired, leading to long stretches of nothing in between set pieces and story. It pretty much depends on you enjoying the gameplay of being the most tenacious 1-armed man in the galaxy. I hope, if they do consider a third game, that they do not aim for making the experience last longer than the material.

1:22:00 I'm not sure whether or not I should praise this for the trickery. You think its some kind of math-based pattern, but it's actually a visual puzzle where the corners(upper right/lower left, etc) mirror each other.
@batshit3618 күн бұрын
We really should have had more dialogue between Cynte and Kanis, and they could have told a lot more story via the notes scattered around, there could have been a few more characters who only existed in notes and maybe the occasional boss fight, the finally boss for such a long game was beaten in a comically short amount of time.
