Will Air Forks compress and rebound (unload) just like normal springs?

One of the things I am trying to learn is probably similar to the concepts in this video. It's a small "step" made of bedrock. Kind of looks like this. ___|-------- Would I do the same thing? I can't find the right balance of gas and how to get it up properly..

The fact that you don't add any music is such a huge help to hear the bike and listen for input timing. That is my biggest issue with trying to learn wheelies and what not. Being able to see the preload and hear the engine spool when you apply throttle at the right times is nice to see. So many people out there always add music and you can't hear the bikes. Great video man.

Love the how to videos and looking forward to seeing more. Many others are doing similar how to videos, but what sets yours apart is the inclusion of drills that are scaffolded from easy to advanced. This really helps novices such as myself to have specific scenarios to look for and work on during the next ride. Keep up the great work and more of the skills videos!

Exactly, “building your way”...upwards. Luckily as a kid, I learned to ride on a YZ80 doing easy technical tricks. Years later, 250s-500s and even my street bikes have been/are easy to maneuver. I watch my friends who learned on large displacement bikes and they struggle or are slow to learn the advanced techniques. I can’t imagine learning to ride on an adv bike. Kills the fun.

A suggestion for those that may not have a lot of trees or whatever to practice on. If there is a railroad track near you, just go explore around and look for a railroad tie that has been discarded near the tracks. Bring it home and set up a small practice spot. They are great to start practicing log jumping on, and you can ride down them the long way, to help with balance.

This type of video coaching is so helpful. I’m back into riding after a looong break and I need to learn solid basics and undo some lazy habits. Heading out to ride/camp soon and will definitely look for some small hill climbs and log hops to practice these techniques. Riding a chunky dual sport so standing and active riding is key to reduce my dumping & jumping. Keep riding and sharing these please, really helpful to those of us who occasionally find ourselves airborne but hadn’t actually planned on it 😅

Good video. I like the angle way of going over. I will practice that. First time I encountered having to go over logs was with this ktm 200 and had never tried it before and the log looked to tall to go over but I followed the guy i was riding with and just popped a wheelie to get my front tire over and rocked forward. I was high centered so the log must have been 18-24"?? guessing on the height. But had to push off with my legs and went over just fine. Did some smaller and suspended after that one with not too much trouble. Watching the video makes me want to go practice on more log jumping!

awesome vids. I'm new to trail/enduro riding and this is the type of content I've been looking for. Can't wait to check out the rest of the series. I apologize in advance if this was already said or shown, but when approaching an obstacle and you need to get the front end up, I know its a combo of throttle and clutch control. But is it more about popping the clutch while giving it a small amount of gas or the opposite or about 50-50? Thanks!
@HeddleTown7 жыл бұрын
Don't apologize that's a great question, I do talk a fair bit about clutch and throttle control in my first few episodes, but your on the right track by popping your clutch its just a matter of how much in other wards how big the obstacle is your tackling! Watch the EP 2 I think will help with lofting the front end also watch EP 1 to get your clutch/throttle control down that is the key to almost everything! :)

I bought a trials bike 6 months ago to help learn various techniques. One technique that is giving me a fit is the Double Blip for jumping obstacles. But the punch technique seems to be the same thing except for two distinct blips of the throttle, it's one continuous blip of the throttle, which makes the timing much easier. Do you use the double blip, and if so, does it give you anything over the punch technique?

With your bike of choice, it seems to be substantially lighter then my 03 wr450f. I have geared it higher to get more top end on the road. It will be street legal shortly for the purpose. I went from a 14f/50r, to a 15f/47 rear. Bike still has plenty torque for anything I need. Here is my question/concern. With the increased amount of clutch I would need, plus the add weight of a 4 stroke, could you do a video and/or give advice for my kind of setup and bike, as far as the pivot turns go for a 4 stroke? I'm not a novice with riding(been riding since I've been very young), I don't feel overwhelmed with such obstacles such as a log. But I've been away from the dualsporting scene for almost 8 years, and been really trying to work on my technique (i.e slow as possible, balance) and so far from your videos, biggest thing I learned, is tucking my legs into the bike for long rides. Thank you for your time. We could discuss via message, or here is fine. Just want to get a little more knowledge base for more technical stuff!
