I learned to ride dirt bikes by myself for a short time, but now I have been without ridding about 11 years, and basically have to learn all over again, but is a good thing, because I get to reboot what I have learned doing the wrong way. Thanks to videos like these I'll be on the right track now. Keep up the Great work. P.s. only noticed now that these videos are 3 years old, but are still very good.

Thanks very much and wishing you all the best! How old the videos are doesn't really matter the skills are the exact same! 👍

Those ruts can really ruin a day of riding! I've never thought of weighting the bike through a rut but that seems like a solid maneuver to try. I HATE getting "crossthreaded" with one tire in a rut and the other doing its own thing... it's like a guaranteed crash for me.
@HeddleTown7 жыл бұрын
But a guaranteed crash is good for views isn't it? haha I first learned that trick from some old school trials riders years ago I'm not sure that it will work for ADV type tires its more to push the knobby's into the ground!? A good bit of momentum also helps! ;)

Your series is inspirational and makes me want to get out and practice..... Thanks soooo much for putting in the time and effort. I'm finally starting to "bond" with my 690. To tell you the truth as was irritated with myself for selling my 500exc and buying the 690, but your videos have helped me through it. The 690 is a beast and I wasn't quite ready for the extra weight!

Good video. We usually forget what it was like to be a newer rider. Everything was a challenge. Lots to learn about riding dirt but it is the best so much fun and good exercise. Nothing beats seat time for riding good snd getting better with confidence.

Yes I understand and yes I can see What your doing as well. Once I get back to work I be glade to sponsor your channel. To help with your knowledge to us newbies and or novice riders is only to benefits us. Yes we can learn after our own faults and that's even if we know what we did in error. But sometimes getting hurt can deter us from advancing or just to stop the sport all together. Knowledge is power. I see how fast you go and the control of your bike. And I want to thank you for sharing and the in dept as you do. Dam I wished I knew you personally, lol... God Bless you and your channel as well. Be safe out there......

@@HeddleTown I had a DRZ 400S but gave it back now I have a 1992 DR 350. Needs some TCL . But does have a lot of potential with only 3000 original miles on it plus this little bike has a 6 speed in it. These kids just let it go and made it a pure woods bike out of it. But it's in good hands now. A little this and that and it will be up a running lile a top......

Let's say you do get caught in a rut, what is the best way to get out? Maybe it's kind of deep. If you try to get out, the back tire is just going to keep following the rut. yA?

Useful tips for inexperienced riders such as myself. Recently picked up a 2016 300xcw and it’s as tamed down as I could get it but still experience arm pump after about 10 minutes of single track. Likely too aggressive of a trail for my skill level but was following a friend riding slow. Been trying to ride a gear higher and using the clutch more, will see if this helps. Keep up the good videos!
@HeddleTown6 жыл бұрын
Thanks more lesson videos coming in the future! Try clamping the bike more with your knees and or legs while your standing up to take a little strain off your arms and just relax in general and you will likely loosen up! :)

Wish I would have watched this video a time or two more lol. Went out yesterday, and without any warning I must have hit a rock and washed my front end out. Wasn't even going that fast, but somehow did a big number on my bike. Going to be over a grand to get back up and running.
@HeddleTown6 жыл бұрын
Man sorry to here that.. maybe I will do a better video on this type of thing in the future going down because of front end washing out is usually hard on the bike and body even when going slow!

I think is great your doing some of these for the new/ first time riders. The only other thing I can think of to help Is. With new riders standing up have a bit of a tendency to lean on the bars with too much weight. They should try to keep the majority of their weight on the pegs.
@HeddleTown7 жыл бұрын
Thanks ya that's kind of my point at 3:42 there is just so many variables when being a new rider its almost impossible to get it all across during a short video! :) Thanks for watching!

Hi man, thanks for your videos. It is really helpful. Could you make a video please how to use rear breaks correctly, how to keep your boots on pegs correctly when you stand and push on rear break. Because it is not obviously. For example, when you jump on some high obstacle how to use rear break to prevent falling on your back. For example in bike trial sport, riders use rear break every time when they jumping to block rear wheel. In motorcycle we have not only breaks but also a clutch and throttle..... I hope you understand what I mean.

Can you explain how to do the power u-turn you did at minute 6:15, and maybe how to do a doughnut the same way? I really appreciate your videos!

I think you just mean the donut I did its just by quickly dropping the clutch for a second with a little extra gas and lean into it! Maybe I will do a video that's a good idea! Thx for watching!

I'be been ridding for a while but I've never really bothered to watch videos on technique. To be clear you like to make the front end light while crossing a rut going uphill if necessary, and load the suspensions while crossing going downhill?
@HeddleTown4 жыл бұрын
Yes you got it more or less! The idea with weighting the bike is to help the knobbies bite the ground better!

Got a question about riding technique: Cornering while standing. Proper lean bike/rider? Right corner, bike leaned right like /, rider not leaned, standing kind of like this | on top of it? Is that the correct way? Maybe you covered it in some of your videos that I cant find?
@HeddleTown5 жыл бұрын
No I have not covered cornering yet but I will be soon thanks for the reminder! Sounds like you got the basics, I will get on a video soon! :) New lesson video coming this Friday!

If you go fast enough you don't ever see stuff like that. Crouched position under power gets you through stuff like that. Newbies should learn the attack position.
