I would assume the Stars and Stripes means he’s the National Champion. Strong rider! I miss racing XC. I raced in Alaska in the early 90s; back in prehistoric times. 😆. I just wish they didn’t make XCO so short. Typical WC races in my time were 3+ hours and our races were always 2.5+ up to 3.5 hours and more on occasion. Making long races into XC Marathon, a separate event, was a mistake. But I guess they wanted to make it more video friendly for the Olympics. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Before the brodcasting changes, they were showing what was going on in every part of the race. We could see a bit of everybody's race and some interesting battles even tough it was not in the leading group. Now we get to watch the same few riders in the front for 1,5 hours. Boring and sad for the racers that we don't get to see 😢
