It really isn't just that though. If there's one thing this game does deserve praise for then it is the care and talent that was put into making the environments so detailed. The missions set during the Warsaw Uprising feature actual landmarks, some of which have been rebuilt after the war and I can actually recognise them from my hometown.

There is one thing that this game does which is completely new - the setting. The massive Polish resistance movement of WW2 gets little to no coverage in the West and almost no other games have even mentioned it. Also, to say that the graphics are nice just because of the engine is slightly ignorant. The Uprising levels feature places that are faithful recreations of actual landmarks of wartime Warsaw. I understand that if you're not Polish or haven't been to Warsaw then there's little chance of you being aware of this at all, but it does help to do a bit of research. Furthermore, I think you're exaggerating how short this game is. It took me about 8 hours to complete it with a bit of exploring and some stealth, but mostly just direct combat with few collectibles found. I'd say between 5 and 10 hours is a good estimate for how long it would take most to finish this game (from fairly fast to utter completionist playthroughs). Anyway, I don't mean to come off sounding like a dick. I agree with pretty much all of your other criticisms regarding the game. However, I have to say that I found Enemy Front way more enjoyable than the campaigns of recent CoD and MoH titles. It does copy their mechanics and that of other games too, but the way it combines them makes it a more varied, open-ended and overall exciting experience than either of them - plus the sniping is awesome (its multiplayer can't compete with them, obviously, as it was outsourced to a seemingly random Romanian company). Of course, its set pieces are not as impressive and the technical issues are more numerous, but you gotta remember that they have a budget that is only a small fraction of what teams working on Battlefield or Crysis get. That is no excuse for the bugs, however it is something to keep in mind. Finally, since I played the game long after release, I gotta say that much of the problems seem to be fixed now and it's a genuinely decent FPS (though not great or anything). There still are some technical hiccups, but they appear to be less frequent.

@Bamul I agree. I actually had quite a bit of fun with this game, and it took me the upper end of 10 hours, though I do tend to explore a lot. Also the settings I thought were amazing, and looked really nice.

The newer Killzone games limit you to just one interchangeable weapon and a static sidearm, too; I hate that system, especially when you consider the original Killzone let you carry three weapons of your choice. It completely crushes your freedom as a player, because at that point you just pick the most well-rounded weapon you can and just use that the entire time. I don't care if you consider it "realistic"; it's boring, bad game design, and even the ARMA games let you carry two weapons of any type, and it's about as realistic as games can get.

Actually, Enemy Front does let you carry two large weapons of any type, as well as one sidearm of any type. To switch between the large weapons, you use Left and Right on the D-pad, and you press Y to switch to your sidearm.

Game might be bad, but it's still one of the better City Interactive games. Seriously, I dare you yo try their older titles. Other advantage? Well, who release WW2 shooter when modern shooters are trendy? And you can play as a Polish resistance member (AK). I mean seriously - there is fuckton of WW2 games, but I can count on the one hand the one where you can play on PL side. Which remind me about other similiar title - Mortyr 1943-2043. Works fine on modern system, except the fact it's pitch black. Other - Pył (Dust). This is some mutant game, both DOS and Windows game, some good ideas. Might give it a try. Especially when it might be ported soon.

I saw your review over the summer, and ended up getting it anyway. I'm a sucker for WW2 fps. Anyway, I played through once, and the only bugs I ran into were the occasional dead enemy floating in the air. "A little break in the immersion, but not so bad," I thought. When the game works, it can be quite enjoyable. I just shrugged it off, "No one can get it right every time, I guess." Then I picked it up later for second play through... It was an absolute parade of failure. If it could glitch out and break it did. Many of which weren't even just immersion breaking annoyances, On some levels, certain buttons stopped working. There was a point were I couldn't change to my secondary weapon, or pick up any new ones. It's a shame, because like I said if it would just fucking work, then it can be quite fun.

By the way, if you every wanted to review a really abhorrent WW2 shooter, then I would suggest Hour of Victory. I have never played, nor will likely ever again play such a broken game in my entire life. A truly dreadful experience... But I think would make a funny video.

i always wonder if you're rushing through these games because the length you always mention is usually about half of how long it took me to finish them. for instance, it took me about 7 hours to finish enemy front and while it's still not "10 hours" it's damn near closer than what you claimed it to be. and i do play a lot of shooters so its not like i die a lot or suck at aiming, it's usually just a natural progress without bumbling around too much but not rushing either

Graphically looks good and in what you showed there were enough exciting moments to buy this on the cheap and with people trying hard on Steam to get MPer going still well that is a bonus. For $ 5.30 Canadian on HRK and getting a game free with it well it is definitely worth a buy now.

I picked this up for a dollar, so I can't really complain. CI games are a lot like movies by "The Asylum". They're essentially mockbuster cheese, and while some are unmitigated crap, some of them can be a lot of fun, if you embrace that they're budget titles, and you didn't pay very much for them.

I actually really enjoyed Sniper Ghost Warrior 2. It was a noticeable improvement compared to the first game, both in terms of stealth, production value, and sniping mechanics!

You must understand this is two games mashed up and rushed out the door. The first game is a Stuart Black of "Black" fame creation, comprising the open ended, cheesy flashback levels and fun gunplay. The second is the plodding, dull and linear call of duty levels that bracket the narrative and the finale, filled in by CI. The game like I said was rushed, and it was also supposed to have a hardcore mode making stealth much more viable. Sadly, the man is seemingly not allowed to finish a game, even though Black was amazing. I had hoped for a proper successor but this isn't it.

2 weapons is bullshit, you need at least 4: a silenced pistol or smg, an assault rifle or LMG, a rocket or grenade launcher and a sniper rifle or bow. Far Cry 3, 4 and 5 get this exactly right.

This game got some criticism. Graphically it is a good looking game and the shooting is satisfying. It has some negative aspects as well like thin story; missions which won't complete; buggy hit detection and imbalance in missions with many easy parts followed up by some difficult sections. This breaks the constant pacing. Despite the flaws I enjoyed it anyway especially on my second play through.

This game had a lot of potential, especially during certain sections of its levels, but it sadly dropped the ball. The biggest issue was that it failed to optimize its gameplay mechanics and its design setup. It was an action run-n-gun shooter with regenerating health, but it had the design and AI setup of a stealth game. This meant that the game was extremely boring because you could just tear through everything and face very little resistance from enemies. You didn't even have to be stealthy once! It would've been a much better game if it altered its gameplay mechanics to fit its stealth design, like eliminating regenerating health. That way, you would actually have a motivation to be stealthy.

To this day I think that 90% of the time the checkpoint system is just garbage. There are some games that benefit from it, but overall... why take away someone's ability to save at their leisure? To force them to repeat the same stretch of game over and over again? Since most of the time checkpoints are little more than autosaves, if I were a game designer I'd at least give gamers the option of choosing the way they want to play the game. Do you want to enable checkpoints? Do you prefer to save whenever you like? Would like to disable the quicksaves/quickloads to discourage yourself from save-scumming? It's not exactly rocket science.

I bought the xbox 360 version and daaamn it was shitty, I finished two missions and called it quits, lots of bugs, stiff gameplay (in my opinion), plain objectives, at least it came with a soundtrack...which made me want to sleep through the game, nothing to boost the gameplay, very melancholy orchestra. One of the worst games I took a blind chance with. Old medal of honor was much more satisfying.

I borrowed 360 version from my friend and it wasn´t *that* bad. My biggest problem was that the main character was way too weak and fragile, it´s just too easy to die in this game. Also sometimes the game ask you to destroy an armored vehicle but doesn´t give you resouces to do that, unless you have grenades or panzerfaust already you are screwed. But I liked the open maps. But when I played this like 2 years ago the online was dead, nobody was playing this one.

i haven't played this game, but this review sounds really bad, in the sense that it stupid. like you shot enemies in firefights and it gets boring because you have done that before. I mean really its a ww2 game, what the hell did you expect. some good points here of course, but alot of them sound stupid, like you wanted to make negative points just for the sake of it. A probably bad game for sure, but a horrible sounding review.
