I remember an arcade near me had two arcade cabinets next to each other linked together to play Sin Deathmatch. Nowhere else have I seen or heard of this. It was amazing. Edit: actually I remember 2 sets now. There was one that was fast pace and you could look everywhere. Then they replaced those two with another two that were still sin but you could only look left and right. I was disappointed with that decision.

That kinda reminds me of a visual novel in which main guy eventually becomes a mech pilot. The sad part is, the mech fighting arcade game that he and his friends are playing in the early part of the story looks, sounds and feels better then the later scenes with actual combat mechs the size of buildings. Thank you SO much for giving SiN so much love in your videos! Didn't expect to get a brand new look at this classic today so that really made my day. Ritual Entertainment are the unsung fallen heroes of classic FPS if you ask me. What's really interesting too is that if you look back at their build of Condition Zero (Deleted Scenes), there are a TON of similarities to SiN that just have their fingerprints all over it. For instance, in Thin Ice you take on a fighter jet shooting RPGs at you just like at the end of Emergence. The final chapter, "Rise Hard", takes place in an office building and rooftops, also like the end of Emergence. CZ Deleted Scenes is unpolished and literally unfinished thanks to Valve's strict deadlines, but I think it's a hidden gem despite its flaws thanks to some really exciting gunplay and varied environments, something you previously commented on in your CZ video. Less known is that the game has a hidden difficulty where if you put "Skill 0" into the console, the damage you take from enemy fire is roughly on par with in actual CS 1.6-- it's a huge challenge but I love playing this mode. I dream of Ritual coming back, but I doubt that could ever happen. They suffered the fate of being swallowed up by a casual gaming company. Oh, the humanity!

And also not forgetting that the company started out with the Quake Scourge of Armagon expansion pack, which might be in my opinion the best FPS experience I ever had. Or at least top 3. I love SiN. The demo for it was one of the first FPS games I ever played. Unfortunately, it took forever to load on my first system and I didn't know to invert the mouse control, so when it started, I couldn't hit anything. Because of the long load time, I never tried it again and just kind of forgot about it. Years later, I decided to try the demo again on a much faster system and was surprised that the load times weren't that long at all. With the controls properly configured, I thought it was great and bought a used copy the moment I saw it at EB Games. I did have a few glitches in the game (a room filled with water, a scrambled guard tower, points in the game that would create corrupt saves), but it was a lot of fun. I never played SiN Episodes. I remember when it came out, I publicly said that it was a bad idea and probably would never get finished. The only thing I was wrong about was the reason for that. I figured that the company would lose interest or claim that they didn't sell well enough to continue the series. Turns out that Ritual got bought out by another company, which caused them to scrap all their current projects. Another reason I dislike episodic games is that I like to be able to play through the entire game start to finish, rather than feel like I'm playing unconnected levels.

If there’s one game that needs a remake, it’s this
@abesmissioncontrol20133 жыл бұрын
A remake of this in 2021 would gender-swap the hero and the villain, making John Blade the bad guy who dresses like a dom and is always hitting on the "strong female lead" Alexis (who don't need no man).

Pretty much all the badass alpha male voiced characters have disappeared now. John Blade, Turok, Duke Nukem, Caleb, Lo Wang, etc.

I remember playing the living shit out of this game when it came out as a demo on a disc with one of the local gaming magazines.
@bansheekiller4 жыл бұрын
Young me was so freaked out when I figured out in the demo version that came on iirc a PC Gamer disk, whilst you start off in a helicopter segment where you mow down as many enemies as possible with the mounted chaingun, I figured out that if you didn't kill enough enemies, the helicopter would be forced to land early, giving an alternate start to the rest of the level.

My favorite FPS growing up. 100%. I was kicking ass in the #1 clan, Bad Karma- back in the day on heat.net rocking a 56k modem. That's right kids, soak that shit in. LOL. Jokes aside, SiN was an absolute diamond for it's multiplayer. It had fantastic level design, bunny hopping, rocket jumping and of course, BEAST MODE!!! I got super nostalgic chills watching this. Great game, wish a remake would come back.

I remember playing the demo of this game over and over before the game came out, being blown away by all the PCs and ATMs in the game being fully functional with passwords and stuff. Doesn't sound all that impressive nowadays but in late 1997? Felt like science fiction!

I do remember throwing DOS commands into those computer terminals. That level of interactivity really stood out for me at the time and, over 20 years later, I still haven't seen it get matched. Deus Ex games came closest, but not quite there for me.

I'm looking forward to this unexpected review on greatness. Most people will say Half Life 2, or Duke 3D, or DOOM. But NAY!!! For shall I sayeth thus.. the light is SiN, and thus shalleth SiN be the brightest light in the sky.
