Wow, how little effort to propel that much force and lift, to nearly throwing. Bruce is one of the few that's the real deal, even rarer that he's a Westerner. Superb and dynamic life force. Id love more instruction and teachings from him, good luck learning things like this real effective and practice concepts from the Chinese.

Works well as long as opponent keeps locked arm or stiff body. Not if relaxed.

I wish Bruce would do some app and form teaching videos.I mean ifI could learn from the man first hand I would. I know he was an indoor student and probably only teaches other indoor students traditionally. But I would love to see the man show the world what real Bagua is.

Check out energyarts.com, the Bagua Mastery Course there is fantastic, highly recommended. Focuses mainly on the meditative side of it, but it would only take time to pick up the martial side . It is a massive amount of material and will keep you busy for at least 2 years of daily practice.

Bruce, in fa jin demonstrations I don't want to see ANY help from the students being pushed, even if that means the demonstration is less impressive to the lay man. In this demonstration it's hard to distinguish the actual force produced by you and the stiff-armed self-pushes of your student. Most obvious in the shoulder fa jin, but visible throughout the demo.

That's quite informative, so basically, the fa jin also comes from rooting of back leg. Back to more stance training I go. Thanks Bruce...

um, no. this demo is showing how fa can come from basically any part of the body. the sound is off on this one, but in another version, same video, he explains how he's using different parts. the back leg is important, no doubt. but the energy to fa can often come not from the heavy or full leg, but the empty one...

Fa jin is just a word. This is one two three.... force transference. Rooting and a to b.It is not the highest expression of the thing that is meant by the word fa jin.It is a form of crude force ,(dan Yi), force in a single direction. That is what I see. The only way to compare it is to feel it yourself. Most people would not know better.Shun Jen however is one. That is one moment in time, not a to b.

he's doing it in a large way to make it obvious. he is very capable of instantaneous fa jun.

He is going very light here, there is a picture of another instance where the student easily clears about 4 feet at a steep angle.
