During the month of January I worked on small format watercolors, with pigments mixed with ground coffee. I also made some projects in acrylic. These small portraits are inspired by facial expressions of the people from the community of Liberia and other small towns...
The main concept is the expression of the characters and the type of color stain as a metaphor to memory and days in the past. These small watercolors with pigments mixed with ground coffee have also been commissioned by Guanacaste families.
It is very satisfying and heart warming to be able to honor my clients by portraying their most beloved people. I also had the opportunity to join efforts with Jose Aguero and his wife Diana, in the coffee shop Avenida 4. They seek to promote art and culture in Liberia along with Carolina, the owner of the coffee shop. By the way, it is also very good, I highly recommend it.
I also had the opportunity to honor Walter Ferguson with one of my paintings. The painting in color (Acrylic) was made a few days before the Calypsonian musician passed away. The image on the right was a portrait done in 2019 (also an Acrylic on canvas).
