Putin has demanded peace talks with hopes to "freeze" the front line after Russian forces have suffered gargantuan losses over the past weeks in failed offensives in Avdiivka, Bakhmut, and Kharkiv. Russian forces seem to be barely hanging on to any sort of hope as troops are bieng pulled from Africa to serve due to dwindling troop numbers. China has continued it's aggressive Rhetoric on Taiwan even threatening the US today.

We don't do either in Canada. We have two minutes of silence at 11 AM on Remembrance Day, but no holiday to detract from the meaning. Factories shut down and people pull their cars over. There's a slow march parade to the cenotaph in most towns with every uniformed group, but no bands, and a ceremony and wreath laying. I don't think anyone would approve of making it a long weekend.

Any Military or industrial support infrastructure is a valid target. More importantly Ukraine is focusing on an economic win. This is Russia's weak spot. High value targets WILL hurt and impact the fortification to continue. Targets like the radar are huge targets. Shows how exposed infrastucture like this is.

Technically speaking, Putin suggested a "Cease Fire".. NOT "Peace Talks" (if you go by the actual translation of Russian to English... too many English outlets falsely translated "Cease" to "Peace" ... which was a stupid error). Diplomatically and technically, the two are VERY different things. Cease fires have been called / used in past wars hundreds of times to do things like collect the dead, evacuate wounded, respond to exceptional humanitarian crisis' during a war (beyond the crisis war itself causes). 99% of the time they do NOT lead to peace. They are an agreement to stop killing for a few days or week before violence resumes. There were dozens of ceasefires in WWI and WWII.

It doesn’t generally bother me to be thanked for my service. Although I often don’t know how to react. I don’t personally go out of my way to advertise I was in but most people who know me know I did. I think the reason Memorial Day is an issue for some is because the day is for the 1s who have fallen but also because the vets seem to be forgotten the rest of the year. Also there is a difference between those who served during combat operations including war & those like me, who served for the most part during peace except for the 1st gulf war for which I was not deployed. Yes I stood the figurative line but my life was never in jeopardy in defense of the country or its interest. So I think those who did, should get preference in this regard.

The early warning radar probably have a selective discrimination ability. They probably ignore slow, low flying aircraft. Thus the Ukrainians were able to fly straight down the Russians throats!😂

They're for spotting ballistic missiles up above the atmosphere, not tracking anything close to the ground. They probably only operate at an upwards angle to avoid getting reflections and clutter from the landscape. Also to avoid causing funny looking kids on a swath of territory in the way of its beam.

From the angle of the southwest facing radar array, it appears that it is directed toward Tuapse Russia on the Black Sea coastline, then across to Istanbul Turkey, Greece and the Mediterranean Sea. The southeast facing array is directly in line with Tbilisi Armenia, Tehran Iran, and Karachi Pakistan. Pakistan is a nuclear power and friendly to the US. Turkey is part of NATO. It shouldn't be any wonder why the array is positioned where it is. For Ukraine, taking out the array opens up the southern part of the Black Sea to higher altitude air operations.

They're not just concerned with missiles launched from land bases. Air- and sea-launched missiles can come from a huge area of ocean in that direction.
