Something that confuses me: if ISTJs and ENFPs have the same "functions in their stack", shouldn't they be more or less similar and not polar opposites? Yes, I know they have different preferences, but I'm asking this because I keep seeing videos where people are being typed with two different types and then commenters will say "it makes sense that people think he's XXXX since they basically have the same functions." Shouldn't we be more different to those with functions outside our stack than those with the same stack as ours? E.g. shouldn't ENFPs be more OPPOSITE with ISTPs since they have NO similar functions in their stack, as opposed to ISTJs? Hope someone clears this up for me.

I get along with ESTPs quite well despite the fact that they’re my “opposite.” But put me in a room with an ESTJ, and if you aren’t careful, it’ll turn into WWIII. Haha But, functions aren’t the end all be all when it comes to relations. I get along well with ENFPs despite not sharing any functions, and relations with ISTPs can be somewhat prickly despite us having the exact same functions.

I laughed at this whole thing… My ENFP husband never ends up triggered by me, but by other people… we have over, when this happens I casually leave the room to pop popcorn and come back trying to guess how long it is going to last. Or perhaps casually distract the poor souls that are not the focus of the rant, but are left as bystanders… all the while laughing on the inside… The fact the triggers never make sense to me, and I would never get so fired up about whatever he gets worked up over makes it even more funny.

But it really is what it is though. It's just that what it is is different for everyone and that's also another thing that's what it is. Basically, everything not being what it is or not wanting it for it be be what it is now, is also a thing that it is, and that being said, the things that shouldn't be what they are, are also what it is cause the idea in it self is- Like uh- you get what I mean, yeah? As an ISTJ I do hate getting into arguments.. Sometimes I just gave in to people demands and participate in social activities, tho, I would mostly be drained & moody afterwards LMAO.. The last part of the video is exceptionally true! We are not that heartless & tends to just pleased others so there won't be anyone feeling sad 😭 P.S: if you ever encountered an ISTJ who refused to hangout with you, it's probably because.. a) They don't like you / don't regard you as a friend. b) They're genuinely busy and you invited them while they're in the middle of something c) They are exhausted and needed some personal time. Trust me we are pretty obvious and readable when we don't want to go out ☺️

Honestly even though I too am an ENFP, I kind of feel bad for the ISTJ... the man clearly doesn't want to be bothered over something like this but the ENFP won't quite... y'know... shut up. He asked for space, so might as well give him space, you know? Additionally, I have to agree with some of the ISTJ's statements on 'spreading one's self too thin'. Of course, I love exploring new ideas and activities, but at the end of the day you have to do something that works consistently in order to keep yourself stable. But man... I love how they both resolved things in a way at the end. It ain't good to never have stability and spread one's self too thin, but it's also not good to be too close-minded and reject having a little fun once in a while... both realized that in their own way. It's sweet. :)

I'm an INFP and I have actually gone on similar tangents when I'm sad or low on sleep. The only reason it's not usually exactly the same is because my brain glitches out halfway through and needs a short reboot which completely throws off my momentum. I envy the ENFPs ability to speak as fast as his brain produces. But I suppose if I had that power, my fights with my evil ENTP sister would have resulted in bloodshed rather than me in tears.

Awww! *Hugs, I feel you! This sounds terrible! Man, arguing with ENTPs leave me in tears too, trust me. Some ENTPs use their sheer subjective Ti logic to call everyone else "dumb" and "wrong" and "stupid". This happened when I tried to make friend with an ENTP. (Not sure if it's because this particular ENTP still doesn't know how to develop his inferior Fe, or all ENTPs are like this. My sample size is only 1. But Im not so willing to go find out now after that incident 😅) I can't deal with people who use power agression to shut others down.

@@michelledoan4447I used to have slight fear of them too when I first started looking into types but I think in the grand scheme of things ENTP are only about as likely to give into their darker impulses as any other type. I've met some in the comments of other MBTI videos and they seem to be pretty nice, fun people who enjoy learning new things. They also have a unique way of looking at the world that I am honestly kind of envious of. Ones like my sister or your "friend" clearly aren't well mentally or emotionally and so they lash out in the only way they really know how. Like with any other toxic person, it's best to leave them behind. Remember, our type doesn't determine who we end up becoming, it's how we choose to use our functions that matters.

@@michelledoan4447 Are you sure this was an ENTP? ENTJs and ESTJs are the types lacking in empathy and beeing more selfabsorbing. Ti is more about the truth, then beeing right at any costs. I always tried to understand the whole situation and the people. Sometimes even doubting myself because of what people said (about me). But at some point I had to understand other people aren't always right or even honest about what they are saying. Sometimes it is all just manipulation to hurt others or because of some advantages. Maybe we hurt people because we care more about the truth than playing social games and lying all the time. We hate lying. But still we can see all prospectives and switch between them quickly to come to the core. And when we are missing some clues, please point them out. We appreciate new informations. We have emotions, we are humans, we are just not that comfortable beeing vulnerable and showing them to everybody. We can feel when someone don't like us or have a problem with us, because we are who we are. We care what people think (Fe), but we don't always can do anything about it. Sometimes it is just because of you, why you don't like us. And have nothing to do with us. We aren't evil, we are just different than "normal" people. And this should be the reason why people are into MBTI, to understand this beeing different than to demonize types because of bad experiences. Everybody can debate, this isn't just an ENTP privilege.

I'm so glad ideologies don't have personality types, but I did find myself observing that there are an overwhelming amount of ENFPs who seem to be very liberal... including in my own family. So, your original comment may have something to it. Lol. Thankfully, my own ENFP dad is also conservative, and my ISTJ mom. Although, in some areas she is definitely more liberal, but it's mostly due to her medical training. For my part, the F means I cling to what I value. My values all line up with conservative ideologies. I won't sway on those. For anyone. Thankfully, my own INTJ is the same. He doesn't bend to anything people say he should or shouldn't be. He has always done what aligns with his morals and beliefs. It's that shared Fi, I think. His refusal to bend on morals and good integrity is one of the first things I noticed when we first met and it was a MUST have in my book. I wasn't willing to accept anyone who would compromise on the things that mattered. So, anyway, hello INTJ conservative! Glad there are more of us out there!

I hope that I may too be wise in choosing my husband. (Though I'll be fine unmarried too if no one worthy comes along) I like what you said about not changing your morals and beliefs for anyone. I'm a Christian and feel much the same way but when I'm inevitably in the wrong I hope I can be humble enough to admit it and change for the better too.

@@dhisufiroafrozenseraphimdragon thankfully, she wasn't. There are other vaccines she tries to pressure family into, but that wasn't one of them. She chose to get it herself because she wanted to keep her job as a nurse. But, she was the only one in the family to do so. The liberalism from the medical field shows up more in her beliefs about abortion in extreme circumstances, her opinions on childhood vaccines... even though the amount has tripled since I was a kid, her thoughts on nutritional holistic approaches verses pharmaceuticals. Things like that. We are Christians, too. We were both extremely cautious in finding our spouse. We waited for the Lord to bring us together in His timing. We each had a list of MUST haves in a spouse, things we would like in a spouse, things we could not and would not tolerate in a spouse. We both wanted someone who would understand us and accept us for who we are. For me, that meant someone who could appreciate my sense of humor and quirkiness, while also understanding my frequent need for introspection and down time. I needed someone I could be myself around without judgment. Most people expect the fun and silly at all times. Others expect my serious and focused side and don't appreciate the silly. Most don't see the innermost emotions, hopes and dreams, because that is very personal to me and I reserve it for those who have earned my trust with that part of myself. I also needed someone who would compliment my weaknesses and benefit from my strengths. I wanted to do the same for him. Finally, we both wanted someone whose God given goals in life for ministry, parenting and business matched our own. When we found each other, it was very quickly evident (within 2 months for me and 4 months for him) that the other one matched our list. We also clicked from day one, as if we had always known each other. It was the most foreign experience for both of us, because we were each used to being the odd one out that not many people understood. Yet, suddenly there we were having 6 hour phone conversations nearly every night. We understood each other in a way I had never found before. I think it is the NexNi thing that made communicating ideas so easy. We didn't begin dating until after 3 months of being friends in a larger friend group. It gave me the chance to see his true colors in a setting where he wasn't pursuing me. He was simply being himself. I fell for him hard and fast and called my best friend in a panic around the 2 month mark because I had never felt that strongly for anyone... and he hadn't even asked me out. 3 days later, he friend zoned me. Which was so hard, but I respected that he didn't want to pursue a relationship with me. He was kind and straightforward and told me he could tell that I liked him and he didn't want to lead me on. He didn't think I was compatible for marriage, even though we clicked so well. So, he showed me his list and I could tell I matched the whole list, but I wasn't going to pressure him by pointing that out. It turned out, he was very interested, but was confused because he wasn't certain we were compatible with life goals. He also didn't see the silly and quirky parts of me, because I reserve that for those I fully trust and feel close with. Over the course of the third month, I simply supported his choice, but he still called me daily. We spent at least a day a week with our mutual friends, and would talk for hours there, too. Then, one day on the way to church, God told him he needed to choose. (He had a crush on a mutual friend of ours and had for a long time). He chose me. He had been talking with a separate friend of his for weeks about how confused he was because we clicked so well, I had a very serious heart for the Lord, and we had a lot in common, with effortless conversations; yet he knew he needed some humor, heart and chill in his life and he didn't see that in me. His friend told him it was supposed to be easy to connect with the right one, and I might have traits he hadn't discovered yet. So, my husband asked me out and explained why he had changed his mind. I agreed. A month later, I was comfortable enough to let him see the hidden fun side. I showed him my list and he began to see that I had all the qualities he was looking for. Two years later, we married. We just celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. We do everything in life together from home life, to gaming and reading, to adventuring, to business, ministry and local politics. We are only ever apart for time with friends. We also both miss each other after several hours away. He knows me so well and I him. Our strengths and weaknesses help each other so much. My rapid fire ideas help him see things he didn't think of. His careful planning keeps me from giving up on goals and keeps me on track. I help him learn to relax and have fun on downtime, he helps me focus on business time. It took some learning each other's differing approach to problems, but the synergy we have in problem solving is astonishing to our friends. They constantly remark how well we work together and how easily we understand each other. When either of us is wrong, we are very quick to apologize and to allow the Lord to bring correction. Our hearts both want what He wants for us and it is a beautiful thing. He certainly knew what He was doing when He brought us together. I pray this encourages you in your own wait for your husband. He has good plans for you and the perfect match for you. Sorry this is so long. Very ENFP of me. 💃🏻

I‘m here to determine if I‘m an ISFJ or an ISTJ.. The ISTJ‘s behavior in this video made me kinda angry in the first half of the video because he didn‘t even bother to stop typing while the ENFP talked with him. Maybe I‘m biased because I like gaming and I‘d instantly quit my work to play a game I love with a friend tho. Theyre very logical and analytical but can be very caring when someone looks sad. So, I am an ISTJ, and I have been pondering this as comparable events play out in my own life (admittedly, on a much more significant scope and with much more dire consequences), and I can confirm that "&*$@ it" attitude when things get interrupted. Nothing goes back to normal until I resolve the issue. I frequently am just going through life happily, then something or someone comes in that totally throws a wrench in the works. I try to change course, then I ruin everything in one way or another, and get angry and try to destroy any trace, but it doesn't go away in my mind, so I'm just left with this lingering "what if?" (damn you, Si). Does anyone have any ideas on how to cope with this "&*$@ it" attitude I have when I get frustrated with the situation? I don't know what to do, as I need to move forward, but I don't know if I should just keep digging and hope there's gold at the bottom of this pit I've dug, or just stop and try to find a way to climb back out? I want to stop and turn back the way I came, but for some reason I cannot bring myself to do so.

As an ISTJ I relate to this a lot. I learned to make compromises and at least give it a try if it sounds somewhat interesting, even if I'm not completely sold on the idea. All I expect is that people espect my boundaries if I say no and if I say yes, I need a little bit time to prepare myself. If these conditions are met, chances are high that I'll be more likely to go along.

Well, our play-conversations often start like this, with me being the ENFP, but she usually complies quicker when I give her enough data to make the game/thing sound cool & productive and then we geek over it together. I'd be like "But you have all the time in the world! It's now time to play and rest so you can be more productive with a fresh mind! Come on!" XD So we would never get past the 00:32 mark to the real ENFP vs ISTJ stuff.

It will never be an 'it is what it is', not until you excuted 1000 of solutions on it! Even if the 1000th solution failed, they will be another 1001 that might work!
