Squad leader didnt say he cant attend his (Sun Yang) injuries. Wang Wei wanted Sun Young to wait just a little bit more since they were finishing. He cant wait. Granted that he is an athlete hence why he has to attend to it. But, surely.... Come on! Then keeping quiet while Squad leader is enduring the punishment, im really disappointed.

Salute to Wei! ..being a squad leader is a big responsibility..you carry all the burden..when I was in training our Instructor always tell us about - "Fault of one, fault of all".. although being a police officer is different from being a soldier, I know how it feels to be punished just because of doing one mistake..it will affect all your comrades.."obey first, before you complain..if you don't want to obey, then "wait until you become"..Golden rules in a training ground and in field is "obey commands/orders"

Granted Sun Yang is an Olympic hero to the Chinese government and nation. But I am just not impressed with him at all. He is definitely getting special treatment. I noticed the army instructor excused Sun Yang's behavior in the private video section. Not impressed with the pampered Sun Yang at all. I am angry that Sun Yang did not speak up for Wang Wei during the punishment until very late, making Wang Wei endure the punishment longer. Granted Sun Yang eventually provided an apology but I think this was for the benefit of the show and saving some face for the Chinese government. How sincere the apology was, well only the future will tell. I wonder if this has helped to change the basic self-centered character of Sun Yang. Wang Wei is a real man and a hero. I respect Wang Wei so much.

Thistledove But I think he has his own point too... he said here that he had the same injury the last time and it caused consequences later on... blisters are painful in water but ppl like us could always avoid being in contact with water when there's injury but he can't bec he swims everyday.. of course I'm not saying he's right for not man up but he's not being unreasonable.. if it's Tao or jiang jinfu (not athletes) it's unreasonable tho

You are a little hard on Sun Yang in my opinion. I didn't notice the special treatement at all. As far as I remember, when Tao refused to do the punishment that required memory and literally left the room despite the order of the person in charge, he didn't have to crawl after, neither did the squad leader. He even refused to do the punishment he, himself, proposed to the squad lead ( a sport related one ). Tao eventually apologized but he is stubborn and immature at times, I am not sure his behaviour would be accepted if it wasn't for the show. If Sun Yang is recieving special treatment for having to crawl on the floor with an heavy pack on the back in front of of his squad mates ( if it wasn't for his squad leader of course ), then I don't know what Tao has... given the fact that the former disobeyed orders once because he feared for his statue as an athlete ( that he probably holds dear ) and the other disobeyed twice in a row because well he didn't want to do it that day. I understand Sun Yang did wrong, I understand he should have spoke up earlier for his squad leader, but in the end, it takes a lot to apologize for something you really think you did right ( I don't care about what the chinese government and nation think of his job, what matters to me is that he probably worked years to get where he was, and he probably didn't feel like they understood the damage of an injury on him at the time. ) even if here, it's the army and he should definitly follow every order.

Maddie lover I see your point of view. But I wish he would have waited until the training was over. Or perhaps the trainer could have called a fellow soldier ( or medic ) over to apply ointment / bandages & that would have been the end of it. Sun Yang isn't a bad guy...a bit stubborn like Taotao yes lol. He knows his body better than anyone. I just think he was having an off day plus the situation was blown out of proportion tbh

a small wound infection can become a miserable disaster if its get into bacteria infection. there were cases that people lost their arms and legs due to wound infection. treating it later is dangerous, especially the place they are at that time. you might not know what kind of harmful microorganisms landed there. as an athletic to protect his body is prioritise and been educate and train that way... so is just different motor in different scenario. cant say he is right or wrong at that moment.. its a principle and teaching he up hold for many years..not easy to change.

I truly wanted to punch Sun Yang. And I felt that the guys wanted too. Even some of the girls. For God's sake! He wasn't even able to let one tear out for his leader? Everyone was washing inside out because they couldn't help and he was just standing still. Neither saying that he was wrong or at least showing some emotion. In this episode I think i see his real personality and that's not pretty at all. Seing Tao by his side begging him to admit he did wrong was just too much. Even I cried. He doesn't even blinked. I was so disgusted at that time already. Then he waited 'till the last second to admit that he was wrong and, even then, I couldn't feel 1% of sincerity.
