+jagabi guledew I figured it's time to put the Type R against newer cars. Although there's still a lot of older sports cars on the track, even more than newer cars.

My first track day ever, it went very well, car survived it just fine except for the brakes, I burned a crap out of them. Need to use track ready brake pads the next time. Anyway I really enjoyed it, especially these two hot laps, driving against the BMW M3. Car specs and other info is in the description. The missing center piece of the dashboard is not a weight reduction, it was undergoing some modifications and I didn't finish it on time.

I'm super impressed w your ITR - definitely upgraded pads and steel lines will increase durability and feel for sure! That track is set up for lots of high speed areas plus I like that it's wide enough to safely pass. Great video and I'd love to see more!

great driving for a first timer bro! however, alot of the times u were doing the heel-and-toe, you were blipping the throttle, pausing, then releasing the clutch.. this upsets your braking stability and increases risk of shift lock. try to release the clutch paddle right after u blip the throttle :) ! your lines are good, and ur reaction at that overstear moment was perfect and calm! keep it up!
@miroshi9 жыл бұрын
+meedo73 A spot on comment, indeed I did release the clutch too late sometimes, need to do more track days to get use to the racing style.

What I'm not happy about though are the gearbox ratios, Honda should've put into the car a 6speed gearbox right from the beginning. The 1-2-3 gear is OK, nice close consecutive shifting, but as soon as you shift into 4th gear there is this stupid void, big pause, nothingness, 4th gear is very lazy until the rpm won't get over 7500rpm. It's clearly demonstatred in this race, as soon as I shift into 4th gear the BMW starts to get ahead and overtakes me at 2:10, the same can be said about the Megane, I shift into 4th gear and Megane starts to pull away from me at 4:59. Yes you could swap gears and make the 4th and 5th gear closer but you'd loose top end speed not to mention more revvy engine means higher fuel consumption, so not a good solution for me because the car has to be streetable. 6 gear gearbox is the only way to go.
@miroshi9 жыл бұрын
+acepty Already have 4.785 final, stock from factory, same gearbox as 98 JDM. The only way is swapping the 4th or even the 5th gear. But I've got already something else planned, which is much better solution in every way.
@miroshi9 жыл бұрын
+AlexandreNogueira I know it's a common practice to swap 4th and 5th gear. Shame that Honda didn't develop 6 speed gearbox for B engines.
@DRNHO9 жыл бұрын
+miroshi Unfortunately, it's not the gear ratios that are at fault (at speed) - it's the engine's lack of torque, compared with turbo cars (Megane) and cars with much more powerful engines (BMW M3). The faster you go, the slower the ITR will seem - that's why it's more suited to smaller tracks, with lots of braking in slow corners and definitely no inclines - such as Tsukuba. Track it without passengers or supercharge it, if you want to be more competitive, on a track with long straights, like this one.
@miroshi9 жыл бұрын
If it was the lack of torque I'd have mentioned it in the first place. It's not that case. Sure it doesn't have much torque but I assure you as soon as the revs hit 7500rpm the car pulls better despite the higher speed. Higher torque in that specific low 6000 rpm area would also cure this problem as would the 6 speed gearbox which wouldn't allow the revs to drop to such low rpm band. If you take closer look at gear ratios, there's a huge gap between 3rd and 4th gear, which is the primary cause for the void. The 98spec gearbox was tuned towards the Tsukuba where 4th gear is used only on the back straight for a few seconds. 96spec gearbox is smoother in the transition between 3rd and 4th gear. But no matter what you do you simply can't beat the 6speed gearbox setup in K engines. Super close and still super efficient with 6th gear for cruising. I don't plan to add any kind of forced induction. Anyway I do have plans how to solve this issue.
@CoupeBerlin8 жыл бұрын
+miroshi 170Nm and 190HP vs 320Nm and 300HP in the M3 vs 340Nm and 250HP in the Megane (if stock). your 4th gear is short compared to other cars. 8500U/min = 187km/h. The 4th in the M3 goes nearly 220km/h. If you race on straight, you will allways loose above 140 km/h- how ever the gear ratio is. Your advance is the weight- you are nearly 300kg lighter than the M3 or RS

Actually that's your opinion, some purists think 195 is the only way they want it, I personally think it deserves custom exhaust and a solid tune, although I swear his tach got up to 9k. Around 200whp DC2 itr is what I like ;)

the car is still stock except for the weight reduction. I have removed A/C, spare wheel, rear seats, antenna, rear wiper, airbags, intake resonator, ..... and a lot of other smaller things, etc. swapped lighter parts, It's -70kg now.
@miroshi8 жыл бұрын
I will make a video on the weight reduction in the future, maybe the next year.
@user-uv3cs4ox8s8 жыл бұрын
Must have done a great job - that sounds like a decent amount of weight to remove from an already lightweight car without turning it into a track car only!
@miroshi8 жыл бұрын
M fully stripped Integra for track racing can weigh as low as 920-950kg, with extreme mods less than 900kg possible. But I'd happy sitting at around 1000kg dry weight. The stock Recaros are also very heavy, I can shave another -16kg with fixed recaro "pole position" bucket seats. Planned for the next year.

to be honest. I think you're overrevving it espacially on some downshifts and is looks like you lose some balance doing that
@miroshi8 жыл бұрын
+NineEleven1 Indeed I overrevved it by 500rpm or so, in two or three instances. The gap between 3-4th gear is simply too big, prone for overrevving if not careful. I'll try better the next time.

@miroshi9 жыл бұрын
+Euphorica Stock P73-G01 EUDM ITR ECU revs up to 8700Rpm, sometimes 8750rpm, the rev limiter is not super accurate. I confirmed these values when reading directly the digital output data from ECU. What you're looking at in the video is the analog rpm needle which shows +300 Rpm more than the engine actually revs. So everything is perfectly normal.
