It's kind of funny how I always sketched rough and "sloppy" like that, but then, I was exposed to tutorials that said that you don't know how to draw properly if you need 10 lines for each feature. That totally crushed what little confidence I had. Well, this video proves that you can draw however you want and still get splendid results!

@HandsOffStalker Oof, I'm so bad at remembering names; I remember it was two different channels run by males... though they didn't phrase it that way exactly.

Sketching is merely a tool to find the form of your subject. Concentrating on “perfect” lines during a sketch is just plain counter-productive
@bikinggal14 жыл бұрын
wow, some people need to keep their lips shut!! You can do a lot of detail if you want!! A lot of strokes...sometimes you need to do that to get it correct! Sometimes I barely sketch things out and sometimes I have more lines...There is no WRONG way to do art!!!

Thank you. I spent the afternoon sketching my neighbours chickens. It was the first day of Spring that had sunshine without cold breeze. I'll have to pull out my paints tomorrow.

When I first read your comment, I read "pants" instead of "paints". I thought to myself that it must have been chilly out there.
"The crown is to make a rooster look dashing." 🐓 New to this channel, instant fan. I love how many thoughts go into the painting. It's not just technical, but almost philosophical. Like the quote I used from the video. It's not simply "paint it red", but a reflection on how you should try and recreate its essence. Quite fascinating, really!
Somebody once said that to make art you don't have to reproduce reality, you need to add to it. These unexpected colors and style is exactly that: an artful addition to reality in a most beautiful way! Always an inspiration sensei! I love you and your work!

The use of color on this is gorgeous! I really adore how the painting doesnt shy away from bright, saturated colors for the whole of the image, yet still maintains its realism. The video itself is great for getting inspired and pumped with a good quick painting.
I wish I had discovered this channel earlier, very talented man spreading his gift to others which is quite inspirational

Wow. This is the level of watercolour painting I would love to achieve. Insanely impressive. I love how this is not a "photo-exact" representation of a rooster, because there's purple in there, for example, but it's so much more. It's an artists' rendition. Wow. Just wow.
You are the Bob Ross of watercolour painting! I love your videos and the way you teach so much. You are really helping me to improve. I especially like the end summaries you do, emphasising key points. Thank you and best wishes from England!
