Weirdly 4chan doesn't seem so harsh, /a/ and /JP/ behave mostly positive towards vtubers, I was expecting more cynicism and antagonism like usual but the few threads I've seen are pretty chill. 2ch tho... Those guys over there get really nasty, they talk about vtubers like we talk about twitch thots. Indeed it is users who make a site bad and not the site itself. But some sites' functions can facilitate negativity more than others. For example reddit's layout divides users into niches/gangs and then gives then the powers of moderation and downvote. Neither of those things is bad really. But I can imagine a problem arising when you put the two together. A group of like-minded individuals can easily stomp out anyone who has a different view. There's little room for debate and "character development" under such conditions. I'm not complaining about reddit though. KZbin is the only significant social media app that I actually use.
