[ENG SUB] Daigo's godlike play while casually talking with chat + bonus

Thanks to Daigo recent beginner videos and free play month for SFV, there are many new players watching Daigo's stream and he welcomes them to ask any questions in the chat. I found this particular match interesting because of the play was super high-level and Daigo doing all of these while casually talking with chat is beyond impressive. Outside of translating, I also put the #JustFrameBreakdown part at the end as well (+ bonus breakdown videos that I posted on twitter and don't know where to put on KZbin lol). Enjoy!

@@fgc-linux1650 Oh yeah, he grinds every day, but he grinded the hardest after getting rekt at Topanga cup by Tokido... he started doing insane crap like training to sweep punish 11 frame moves.

I also think that he feels the range of most attacks, that is how he is able to react so fast. Knowing that you are in safe distance and that an attack will whif, it's easier to punish. Every match must feel for him like a speedrun.

Just to clarify, Daigo sits there practicing all those punishes for literally hours, the same thing over and over in training mode. It's a point to make because he doesn't think of himself as a genius but rather, hardworking.

When you break a game into the most important moments like that it's so cool, we see things we normally don't realize. The Daigo match, for example, we see how he "trained" his opponent to expect a grab after sommersault and it pays off at the end. Very cool 👍🏻

Lol I remember watching this live and I'm like smiling the entire time seeing daigo casually chatting while destroying in ranked mode. As if all these ranked opponents were bronze level lol. The only times he puts "some" mental effort is when he sees warlords or someone well known. Truly a beast

Insame amount of practice. Mostly offstream, but I've watched him doing Guile high confirm into CA over and over in training mode on stream as well. Several times. So if you too spend an hour or two each day just on that, and then try to use it in match to wrap up training for another hour, and keep at it half a year... You'll be able to do the same.

WTF is up with that controller with all buttons and no joystick? Man I’ve been away from this stuff for a long time, my last game series-wise was SFIII 3RD Strike, but my fav was SFA3. But this is a direction free input set up, like playing with a keyboard, but without necessarily WASD, which mimics a D pad. It’s more like playing with QWERTYUIOP[]\. I could see how that could work after getting over the initial _steep_ learning curve.

If he uses that pad against people with regular pad it is basically cheating because he has access to certain mechanics like walking towards and blocking at the same time
