I know when it comes down to it, this is partly Kaos fault and I hate that he hurt Pete, but my heart breaks for him. He’s so trapped in a cage he himself helped build. He’s so terrified of defining social expectations and disappointing his mom, that he couldn’t get his priorities straight and in trying to please and appease everyone just caused hurt and pain to one of the most important people in his life. They have their annoying moments. But at the end of the day they’re both humans. And humans are bound to make mistakes. What’s interesting is how they’ll move forward from that. And what step they will take to correct the wrong. I love how realistic Pete and Kao’s struggles can be. I never cried in any of the scene in Dark Blue Kiss, but when Kao asked his mom, “Am I a good son?” My heart broke and I cried rivers. I felt that so much. I can relate. Kao should have told Pete, I know he was not budging but he has grown and would have understood him if he explained.why he needed to continue. Poor Mork heart and body is wounded. Edit: rewatching and I feel more on Pete side than ever "If you had told him we were dating this wouldn't have been an issue" Pete is mainly insecure that he did not come out yet to his mother an other people. He accepted Kao's decision but it still bothered him and it manifest now that Kao has lied about tutoring Non. Then I feel so bad for Kao still that talk with his mom, she's just waiting for him to come out and he's terrified. It's not as easy to come out and I'm glad they are showing this.

Miss you forget that at first kao already insisted on tutoring Non using the same family reason, but pete refuse to understand his point of view. I get it that lying is bad but i cant see how else kao gonna solve his problem. He did try to reason to keep tutoring non, but pete was having none of it, so at ONE POINT kao agreed to stop. But you see how he need to protect his mom, protect his job too because many other tutors were around, protect his sis by paying for her tuition fee. Be honest with your partner. He didn't have to lie to pete about Non. That fight could have been avoided if he had been firm with Non from the beginning. There are other ways to get an annoying person to STOP without coming out. Kao kept brushing it aside, that's where he went wrong. A hidden relationship is even more fragile than one that is not so its going to take more effort. Reassurance is needed especially if they are the type to get easily jealous.

Pete had valid reasons to be angry. Kao lied actively, that's a choice. Without communication a relationship is in trouble. And trust is key, Kao broke that trust. And Pete was right because he'd told his dad he's in love with Kao because he's proud and doesn't want to hide a part of himself. I get its not easy but Pete feels like he's a secret and that can't be a good feeling. One thing I do hate in some BLs is the relentless theme of forgiving people who hurt you way too quickly and people telling you to let things that really hurt go right away. I appreciate their friend BUT she should've been counseling Kao also on why Pete was hurt and disappointed that someone he had complete faith and trust in didn't give him the honesty he deserved.. Forgiveness can be given but sometimes they need to play it out a little longer. In this series I think they did it well. We got to see Pete go through a process to get to forgiveness. Kao though would need to understand rebuilding trust, once broken takes time.

Pete knows Kao is trying to help his family and while he might not have liked Kao tutoring the brat, in time i think he would've understood. Kao lied and then kept lying to Pete to cover the situation up. The issue Pete had was the fact Kao lied to him. If there's no trust then a relationship is not going to work.

As difficult as it would've been, Jao still should've had the conversation, explained why, and asked Pete to be supportive. I think Pete would've struggled initially, but in the end, I think he would've accepted it and why Kao was doing it. He still would've behaved like a brat about it, but he knew Kao's situation and would've tolerated it. As a couple, you have to work together and communicate with each other. It's really difficult when you break trust. That's why Pete was so angry.

As a bi person, the scene with Kao`s mother hit me so hard. I`ve been there. What I love about this series so much is that they didn`t make Kao mother a bad mom or homophobic or something like that and besides that Kao is still afraid to tell. And I get that so much. Kao has always been perfect in everything, he is confident, smart, is helping the family working hard and everything else. But this time (even tho being gay is not something u should be ashamed of or a defect) he is not `perfect` and he is just afraid to tell and be rejected when he is loved so much. It took me 2 years to tell my mom even tho I always tell her everything. It was the first time I kept something big like that. We are best friends and normally I`m not afraid of my mom reactions. But this... I don`t how to explaind, but is different. I was afraid to be judged by someone which the opnion is so important to me. I was afraid that she would love me less. I was afraid that of so much and even that in my mind I knew most of those things woudn`t happen because is not like my mom at all I was stiil afraid. My mom had to sit with me and ask up front `do you like girls?` and only then I gathared the courage to answer yes (even tho I was shaking and almost crying). So yeah, when his mother asks him if he has something to say and he says I love u mom, I get that Kao. I know what you`re feeling. And I love the directors for putting this kind of struggle a lgbt person goes through in a series and putting it in a way that is not offensive or cliche but mature. I love it. Thank you so much. Honestly I think Pete is less angry and more hurt. Hurt because he got his trust broken by the one person he thought he could trust in. He already said in earlier parts how hard it is for him to do so and that he feels left behind. He's insecure and Kao lying to him even tho he told him multiple times that he would be honest must have been painful. Yes, the conflict started because Pete was being unreasonable but Kao avoided conflict like he always does and instead chose to hurt Pete. I'm totally on Pete's side here.

La parte de Kao y su madre, rompió mi corazón en mil pedazo porque me siento tan malditamente identificada por ello. Vivo una situación parecida, mi madre y mi padre son personas sumamente cerradas de mente, principalmente mi padre y cuando por fin acepte mi sexualidad tuve que aceptar también el hecho de que ellos no me van a apoyar a pesar de todo. Pero cuando viví una situación como esta, en donde una persona de mi mismo sexo era de quien estaba enamorada, el único lugar y momento donde me sentí bien, sin miedo, era con mi padres. Entiendo mucho a Kao en esa parte, a pesar de no tener confianza a su madre para contarle que es lo que esta sintiendo, el aun así va y se acuesta en el regazo de su madre porque su mama representa un sitio seguro, donde ya no tiene miedo y las preocupaciones simplemente desaparecen, donde todo lo malo no existe y solo esta el calor de tu mama abrazándote.
