I think this was the story... There was a boy who had a friend back when he was young. He had a strong bond with her and it was implied that something happened to the girl (the flashes where both of them are in a place and the girl would just disappear or moments where the boy is alone yet somehow there should have been a person beside him). The girl (maybe) didn't die since one of the lines stated, "Going 'round, impatience and summer rumors. I still won't forget them." So there was some bad gossip going around on the girl (or in her family) and sometime later, they would leave the town (or maybe she died, idk). The thing is, when she left, the boy never got over it and even held on to the memories they had together or he would remember the girl in particular. There were many "what ifs" that the boy wondered: "Now, if and just if you (the girl) were to taint our tomorrow even these scorching days would change... Now, if and just if we'd been able to turn our backs to the future and sleep soundly, perhaps we would've been happy." And the memories and "what ifs" mix up and turned him into a guy who gives "vague smiles"; the guy who's "voice grows quieter"; the guy who's "superficial and shallow". Why is he holding on these things? Maybe because he was thinking that he would be ruining her by forgetting the memories: " If and just if, I were to desire a tomorrow, that would be stealing away your fading fervor." But on the next line: "Because simply dragging you around selfishly would only be causing you trouble," indicates that he realizes that he should let go of her; that he should release these memories because he would be 'causing her trouble' by not fully living. The Evening Dye represents how calm and free he is when night comes. Throughout the song, the boy is simply waiting for the night to come. Maybe he has a good memory with her in that time or maybe it was only this time of the day that he could truly remember her. Or it was just a cool video for a cool song. xD

ive been listening to this song for years now lol. its one of if not my favorite vocaloid song in existence and helped solidify balloon and/or keina suda as my favorite musician of all time. thank you for translating this!!
