I live in the United States and have tasted raw shiso leaves, they are served with sashimi at a local restaurant. I love the taste but it is just one leaf as a garnish, so this year I tried to grow some of my own from seeds. The seeds did not germinate but I am going to try again next year. Thank you so much for sharing these recipes! I really hope I am able to grow my own shiso next year because I look forward to trying your recipes.

Thankyou sir for another fantastic video. It is great to see you demonstrating Japanese cooking as I know so very little about it. But after watching this and the Octopus video, it makes me want to eat Japanese food. The herbs you harvested as far as I know we don't have in Australia. But it looked very delicious Shibasaki San!

Apparently it's from the mint family - I've seen the red variety known as purple mint in UK garden centres. Comes under a load of other names too like Chinese Basil. My vegan ex was into the stuff - not quite my cuppa.

I never tried eating red shizo seeds, now I'm going to try making it copying your recipe. Thank you very much. Arigato gozaimas! As for painting, I am slowly learning (very slow progress): I know and I see beauty but my hand does not go where I want it to go...still trying!...I am a grandma, cooking is no problem but painting with watercolor is a different story. I 've spent some years in Japan (70's) but have not had a chance to revisit it....Thank you again sir, I wish you good health (to give us more tutorials)
