If I remember correctly, butter is used for making the batter lighter. Edit: I got this answer on Google It allows for steam and carbon dioxide to be trapped in the batter as it is bakes, which causes your cake to rise. The butter also helps to create a light and tender texture in cake batter. Yep light, hehe I still got it. That aside, I can't believe Mafumafu is asking Amatsuki-kun why he chose rock www. Yes you can add butter in the batter or even use the butter to grease the cake tin etc!
