Engine arrival (special): Donald and Douglas

Year: 1930
While the express and goods sector of the NWR has had some improvement with it’s motive power, the mixed traffic sector has been somewhat ignored. And with the new massive building project underway, it’s time for some more engines. Topham orders for one engine, but strangely receives two. Having trouble with figuring out who to keep and who to send back, he puts both on trial. Now it’s up to those engines to prove themselves.

You know, the whole story with Donald and Douglas is often used to frame Sir Toppam as evil. That's obviously not true, but it is a good look into one of his character flaws - his tendency to assume the worst if an accident happens and blame the engine rather than any involved circumstances.

For an engine that should exist for 40 years that's about a third of their life and with an average life expectancy of 80 for simplicity sake then they are about 60 in human years and james at the oldest is 13 tears younger as the l&y class 28s were built in 1913-18 and as he is a rebuilt one.... Well he does have a point
