Cool - and it will be down there 😉 If the power peak wasn't reached before the rpm limit you're using, did you consider advancing(?) the exhaust cam', the intake' if you have clearance, or both by ~4 degrees, to check if that gave a little more power 'under the curve' (re: rpm drop when next gear selected) and/or a little more torque, and maybe a lower boost thresh-hold? While it's normally good practice to time them as per spec's, sometimes you can move the curves a little to better suit the specific requirements of the engine installation being used..

I know it would require a new manifold, but would a twin scroll or dual volute exhaust housing help with bringing the turbo on earlier?
@snape14644 жыл бұрын
Coming from an automation background, I've never understood why closed loop lambda and even boost control aren't standard. People messing around with duty cycles etc. when a computer can do it better and faster with a simple PID controller and target input from the tuner, also allowing for better compensation depending on ambient conditions
@nzuncovered1845 Жыл бұрын
Because an ECU can't compensate fast enough

I had in mind that i will use Millers CRO 10w-40 running-in oil for the first start, but my engine builder warned me, when then i exchange the oil for something like 10W50/60 and again dont completely disassemble the engine and cooler, the running-in oil remains in engine(0,5L for expamle) and will mix with the new proper oil.Is this big of a deal?And sorry for my english O:-)
@hpa1014 жыл бұрын
You definitely want to get as much of the oil out of the system as possible when completing an oil change. in our case the only oil remaining in the system is in the oil cooler and given the dry sump tank takes about 8 litres of oil, the remaining oil is a pretty small percentage so we aren't concerned about it - Andre
@limitlessbuilds4 жыл бұрын
Hey Andre, just wanted to ask if you think it’s a waste of time to use shielded wire for all the coils/cam and crank sensors? I was considering it for my new harness
@hpa1014 жыл бұрын
Definitely you should use shielded cable for the cam and crank sensors, as well as knock sensors and wheel speed - Basically any high frequency mission critical input. Shielding the coil wiring isn't necessary though - Andre

Hey Andre, awesome and informative video as always! I'm curious whether you guys are running in a different class and or set of rules - given that the 86 has 200hp more @ the wheels if driver so chooses? Thanks _ Tom
@hpa1014 жыл бұрын
The class rules account for the turbocharger vs engine side, to not run things at 100% for the entire race is our call rather than us being limited to a specific power figure - Taz.

@hpa1014 жыл бұрын
Time constraints. We had a 3UZ-FE build in the works, well, technically still have, but there were delays so we stole the engine from the SRZ project that was indeed laying around here. It was supposed to be temporary, but honestly so many hours have gone into this setup now I think we're going to have to stick with it given the costs involved and our budgets. Either way, the 3UZ build will go into something that you will see on here too - Taz.

How on earth is it only losing 20bhp to the wheels? I thought this worked off a percentage loss, from the flywheel power?
@hpa1014 жыл бұрын
It's to the hubs rather than the wheels, and Andre likes to stay on the conservative side, but there is no fixed percentage as there are so many variables. That said, to the wheels losses can be as high as 20% - Taz.
@or8t4 жыл бұрын
@@hpa101 Surely that Inverse of conservative! 620-600 is 3% loss. 20% is the figure I'm more familiar with, as you say also.
@garagecedric4 жыл бұрын
Looking at the statistics from rototest institute on standard cars, they seem to be around 9-10% for their hub dyno. Might be slightly lower with as much power as this car have, but its some data to lean on.
@hpa1014 жыл бұрын
@@garagecedric I try and stay away from the internet debates about power loss on a chassis dyno. Everyone has their own thoughts and it's really hard to give a definitive answer. Ultimately it doesn't even matter to me as we know what we have at the hubs and we have consistency and repeatability. If I was to put this car on 4 different dynos I'd inevitably see 4 different results - Andre
@garagecedric4 жыл бұрын
@@hpa101 i fully agree with trying to avoid engine numbers, in the oem world where we had full loss number maps on all components it was still hard to predict. For me its hub dyno only to get rid of at least a couple of inconsistent factors, at least for my type of usage.

It's not for sale Richmon, you can't have it 😅 We don't sell any ECUs, this is just a little feature Andre likes and is giving kudos for. If you have used a number of ECUs then no doubt you will understand a lot of little features like this often never work as intended so it's nice when the opposite occurs. At the end of the day though a MoTeC ECU is fitted to the car so any ECU related comments are going to be MoTeC related. If it had a Haltech, AEM, Link, Syvecs, MS3 Pro, Ecumaster, Maxxecu, Life Racing or whatever else, then obviously the comments would relate to one of those platforms instead - Taz.
