Job well done, I need to get that done to my smiley as my thermostat housing burst open and spewed coolant everywhere leaving everything stained orange. Also just had a recon Bosch pump just put in so at least I have some new looking metal in there! Keep the vids coming, find them really useful and hope ya pass the MOT! Thanks

I spray elbow grease on my hands when covered in oil then wash in soap and water, removes all the dirt with little effort and being solvent free isn't bad for your skin. Much better than swarfega and doesn't stink afterwards. Just finished a welding marathon on my Mk6 transit, nothing better than getting your hands on a new mot for 12 months 👍

Hi Ollie great job on that it looks mint !!! Quick question if you get time to answer ,I'm wondering what the torque setting is for front axle hub nut on these mk5, s??? I've replaced a bearing so I dont want to mess up the bearing by going ham on the axle nut .(interestingly its left hand thread on the passenger front axle hub nut)
@TurnersWorkshop972 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you so much. Because these are tapered roller bearings you don’t do them up too tight or else you will damage the bearings. Once the new bearing is on you tighten them down to seat the bearings and then back the nut off slightly until the pin goes through the closest slot on the castle nut. Hopefully that makes sense. Have a look at adjusting wheel bearings on a Land Rover they have the same type. I will one day get around to making a video on checking and adjusting the wheel bearings.
@Trynfixit2 жыл бұрын
@@TurnersWorkshop97 makes total sense Ollie mine isnt a castle nut but more a retaining clip that goes over the nut and then a clip that goes through it but much the same principal .I think I remember this process with loosening back the nut slightly as end float in the Hanes manual would that be right .much obliged Ollie for replying mate thanks a million ☘
@TurnersWorkshop972 жыл бұрын
Perfect, that’s totally right it’s for adjusting the end float so there is a very small amount of play. No worries mate, take care

With a DI, electrical systems are optional! 😂 Interesting to see what the battery tray is supposed to look like - mine had totally dissolved...

Haha! Exactly that, can’t beat the old DI 😆

Same I started off with two battery trays one for each battery.ive now got about a third of a battery tray left one side now and just a pile of rust down the side of the wing the other side which used to be the other battery tray.

Might i suggest removing all the sound proofing as it just disintegrates all over the engine. You can replace it if you want with something like dynamat. Cif cleaner is good on white vans too.
@TurnersWorkshop973 жыл бұрын
Definitely mate, I’ve been thinking about it but got all the matting out inside at tho moment until I fix the leaks! It’s a bit noisy 😂 So will most probably remove it once I’ve put all the inside sound proofing back in. Thanks for the recommendation I will look into the dynamat! And will have to give the Cif ago 👍🏼 Cheers

Why is there two batteries sorry
@TurnersWorkshop97 Жыл бұрын
One was for starting the engine, and the other was a campervan leisure battery. It’s all been reconfigured now. Some of the older transits may have 2 starting batteries connected in parallel to increase the CCA (Cold cranking amps). They require big batteries to turn over these engines in cold weather 👍🏼
