You told this story very well and now have the benefit of hindsight to establish the root cause of the failure. You have done other Amel owners a favour in exposing the issues. You have had a great repair done it is just a shame that the mechanics did not deal with it in the priority way you expected it, it must have been very stressful for you. Hope the passage was less ‘eventful’.😀👍⛵️

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I tried to balance it all out as it was and despite the delays it was all okay in the end so no bad feelings after. There were a few 'events ' on the passage but nothing terrible. ..you will see ;)

I have watched your vlogs for years and always been impressed by the bigger picture , not just the white sandy beeches with crystal azure water, palm trees and all that, your vidios show the pit falls, the constant maintenance needed to visit said places .

Thanks for sticking with us for so long and glad you appreciate the 'reality ' . We really did feel like we had put so much effort into our MOthership over the previous months ...maybe thats why I was so disheartened when this happened .Thanks for staying in touch xx

Sad to see the problem you had. But hopefully, you will stay out of further trouble and can enjoy the rest of the trip. Your kids show good spirits. They will have learned for the future to tackle any problem, and that should not be neglected.

Thats a good point , the kids are good at getting on with it and not getting bothered, they will take problem solving in their stride :)

It was a challenge but we did not lose our home or lives like many people so we are very grateful for that and also glad we were not out at sea like one chap we heard about near Great Barrier Island!

Difficult story but you told it well and made a great video. I bet you didn’t want to see the marina bill at the end. On the bright side glad you caught the problem before you left NZ and didn’t have a major breakdown somewhere lost in the South Pacific.
@MotherShipAdrift3 күн бұрын
Thats right :) we always remind ourselves it could be a lot worse ....Yea I always hate marina bills but good to bring money to the local economy .

Have a look at the latest episode of Barefoot Doctors, maybe their mental advice can be beneficial in your situation to lighten the mood. Cheers.

You came to NZ at the worst possible time (weather wise) Cyclone gabrielle was the costliest cyclone in the southern hemisphere and the worst weather event since cyclone bola
@MotherShipAdrift2 күн бұрын
It is very worrying to see how extreme weather events effect a country and we saw it first hand here , so terrible . But I am happy to say it did not spoil our impression of New Zealand , the beauty of this country , so much respect for nature and wonderful people 😌

Hi, just a short question as I am to do the same job as you. Would it be possible that all the work could be done just by you? You are very handy man. By the way, great video.
@MotherShipAdrift14 сағат бұрын
I think if you had the right tools , it would be possible to replace the mounts and do the alignment by yourself . You would need a workshop to fix the shaft and make the alignment tool. I think There will be a detailed Maintenance vid coming out later on the Mothership Maintenance channel so make sure you subscribe to that 👍 do you have an Amel ?
@SlavkoDespotovic-f2u13 сағат бұрын
@ Yes, Amel Super Maramu 2000, year 2000. I am in Italy, wintering. Orđered aligment tool from shop in Slovenia. Why do you think I would need to change, replace shaft? Fair winds. Slavko

Sorry for your plight but yachting has its down falls,when you say no money you have to work or were you expecting a free ride,our yachting community will come to your aid as most yachting communities do,please don’t consider NZ as 3rd world destination
@MotherShipAdrift2 күн бұрын
You will have to watch the video to find out what I meant 😉 … no idea what you mean about NZ being a ‘3rd world destination ‘ that’s a very bizarre comment . I would not agree with your opinion on that .
@MarkusMeier-bt4ii3 күн бұрын
Guys, a video full of complaints. You live a luxury life, not working, not contributing to society‘s wealth, just consuming for years. A little more humility would be appropriate
@petertorrey40803 күн бұрын
Truly, you define the " idiotic comment"
@MotherShipAdrift3 күн бұрын
Yes we complained a bit here because it was a very tough time .Have you never complained in your life or have you never had a tough time ? I disagree about the life of luxury ...we ration food, water and even clothes . We also worked so hard on our boat when in New Zealand , in fact the majority of the time we were working on our boat so we never got to see the beautiful South Island, which we just accepted . We also spent a LOT of money in New Zealand in boatyards, marinas and for mechanics which supported the economy. We supported their tourist industry and promoted travel to New Zealand. We did contribute to this countries wealth actually. We also work in other ways that you don't know about and we pay tax in England but do not use any services there. And how much work do you think it takes me to edit one video for your entertainment ? When we travel , we are full of humility , we pick up every persons plastic off the beaches , we helped here to rebuild paths and we share anyones story which is worth sharing . Do you have a story that is worth sharing ? I would love to hear it if so because maybe you could inspire a few people instead of being so superior and negative ? Irenka
